Saturday Fasted cardio: 1000 Calorie HIIT Workout - Christine Salus

Image
Okk. I only did part 1 + dancing around and jumping around because I was doing this fasted. But hey 1000/3 = about 333 calories. I'll take that! I started to look into youtube HIIT videos because I got a little bored with the Insanity workouts. It's also motivating to see "in real life" people working out too (Shaun T is like a workout guru/celebrity :P) Listening to great unce-lifting music really, absolutely helps! I came upon Mandy Lee 20  HIIT playlist today by random search on Soundcloud. Great for cardio for sure :)

day 18: Fasted dancing/insanity

Image
okk, little confession, I didn't work out yesterday because I told myself I would sprint in the evening after work.. But, the sun keeps setting earlier and earlier and well my mind and body thinks I should get ready for bed soon Z.z haha. At least I got a lot of studying done instead I either need to make my willpower stronger or move my sprinting schedule to earlier. Knowing myself completely, I will have to do HIIT/sprints earlier. One advantage of not having the gym for lifting seshes is that I am more strict on my low carb/keto diet. Before I'd say ohh I can burn off the ice cream or this slice of pizza or eat my burgers with buns since I'll make today a squat/deadlift day. But now I'm really trying to limit carbs to about 50g or less a day. I don't think I burn nearly as many calories doing cardio as I did when I lifted. But it's A-OK. I still eat well :) Example: this steak fajitas wrapped in lettuce because I was craving tacos and burritos. And...

Day 17 - fasted cardio and monday grumps..

Image
MOODY Mondays It seems like people are grumpier on Mondays? They are probably recovering/withdrawing from the festivities of the weekends and are sad they have to start the weekdays all over again. I notice my tutees are grumpier, stubborn and I also notice drivers are more impatient and irritable it seems on Mondays. so strange.. So.. I'm officially gym-less right now. It feels so weird and bittersweet. I'm not sure what gym I will be going to next since my 2 year 24 hour fitness costco membership has finally terminated. I think it's time for me to check out MMA! But I also love lifting and making sure my muscles don't atrophy. haha I hope I don't lose my butt gains this week since I will mostly be doing cardio and HIIT/ Sprints . Pictures like this definitely motivate me to do sprints over long-distance jogging. Remember FAST twitch muscles, we want to fatigue them :)! Furthermore, since I am no longer lifting (for the next two weeks most likely wh...

Day 16: cardio dancing

Image
I don't really know how to explain what my workout was this morning.. I put  Insanity and Despicable Me  in the background then put in my earphones to an EDM station. For the span of one Insanity workout I basically shuffled-danced around, gyrated, booty-popped (or as much as I could with my baby cakes) and did jumping jacks and jump ropes and high knees in between. SO. MUCH. FUN. I think the best explanation I could give is possibly a hype girl or go-go dancer at a rave + mesh of work out moves?.... hmmm but not that sexy, but just as energetic. I swear dancing is good for your abs :) interestingly, I am currently watching some go-go videos on youtube for some inspiration & moves. hahah xD :) Rawr, Dianasaur

Day 8ish - plethora of fasted cardios and lackadaisical gymming

Image
Lost count of workout days.. Had a lackluster past weekend with a mild case of FOMO. Had to study for test and also help my students study for theirs as well. Furthermore, since I worked out on and off throughout this week, my shower schedule was off and adding onto the mismanagement of my time I slept a tremendous amount. Zzzzz I wish I could carry over the excess hours I sleep. I saw this fact somewhere and thinking about the amount of time we spend sleeping fascinated me. 25 years if you sleep 8 hours on average. haha wow. So if you're 75 years old, you only really have 50 years of life experience :P, since 25 years were spent sleeping like Sleeping Beauty. so.. although I have been working out throughout the week but not as diligently as I would've liked, I'll call today's post Day 8 of workouts I am still penguin waddling around from two days ago when I did 10x10 volume training on squats. woo! Although I had a great squat session, I was pretty irrit...

unplanned rest day..

Image
So today my daily routine has been all screwed up. Essentially what this meme is. And I know how I started my day off 'incorrectly'. Woke up refreshed and ready to workout. I had my lemon, cayenne tea but decided not to make any coffee since I really don't want to develop a caffeine-necessity. Tried to log onto netflix but internet was too laggy to even connect to a page :(. Then I realize how dependent I am of internet/streaming tv and also realized I am not interested in doing Insanity if I am not able to watch tv.. # firstworldproblems Decided to just make a nice sandwich and soon after started reading on my bed and eventually took a nap. Woke up groggy and grumpy. Drove to work grumpy and contact lens drying up on eyeballs. Day dreamt about coffee for the next three hours. Went to Mcds to get a black coffee for a pickmeup. Had dinner with family.. started watching an episode of Chuck . And couldn't find the elusive motivation to go to gym and do my dam...

Day 4: Insanity Pure Cardio + P90x Ab ripper X

Image
This is my morning ritual nowadays (wait, but the Chai tea is a new development). the orange-y drink on the right is the cayenne pepper +lemon + cinnamon drink, right in back of it is the fresh black coffee using my Teavana perfect tea maker  because my Bodum  coffee press has been long-shattered :( and then the Chai tea! mmm lots of liquids to jumpstart my body. Then off to Insanity while watching Once Upon a Time and then P90x Ab Ripperx

Day3: AestheticDianasaurus Cardio and recovering from yesterday

It takes about 21 days to establish a habit. I still am trying to establish my current daily routine, so I can't wait for the post " Day 21:" !! :D Drank Lemon Cayenne powder + Lemon + cinnamon (new addition that I kind of like), then made a fresh cup of black coffee and brewed uncaffeinated peppermint tea Checked out Insanity's Cardio Recovery and wanted more cardio. I have this routine written on my mirror and decided to do this while watching Once Upon a Time . I was also strapped for time so this was perfect. AestheticDianasaurus Cardio while TV watching Jump rope 100  150  200 High knees 75 Body Squats 50 Pushups 25  10 Jumping jacks 75 Ab wheels 25   10 Butt kicks 75 Tpday's eatery : had korean bbq mmm all that protein. And spent most of today digesting. Then came home and was just craving carbs an...

Day2: insanity cardio power & resistance + back/biceps

Image
Fasted cardio : Insanity cardio power & resistance + CHUCK (tv show). definitely need workout music next time and then evening Back/Biceps workout -assisted pullups, chinups, dips -shoulder pressdown -tricep pushdown -squatted back rows -close grip lat pulldown -135 lb deadlifts wooo Oh man so today at the gym I saw a girl putting on makeup with fake lashes and doing her hair. So I assumed she was done gymming for the day. But while lifting weights I see her strutting through the weights area to the yoga class all dolled up with a super cropped shirt and low, tight yoga pants. dang girlll, you do your thing! Tomorrow's cardio: I plan to try @Bskyfitness stairmaster HIIT routine. I'm usually doing steady-state stairmaster at around level 9-10 so I hope this routine is effective :D

Day 1: insanity plyo + 3 mile stairmaster

October is almost upon us! that means Halloween and scantily clad costumes? just keeding. However, just in case I have an outfit that bares the bellay... I am incorporating more cardio cardio.. *shudder* anyways 5 implementations for the next month: 1. CARDIO Well, today's plan was to ease back into cardio but I think I made a grand entrance. Did all out bawls out  fasted insanity plyo  while watching Once Upon a Time and playing a workout playlist on Spotify. 2. IIFYM/Low CARB less than 100 g of carbs daily and most of the carbs will be eaten for breakfast/lunch. iifym ratio 30c 40 p 30f 3. spice up my life Cayenne pepper + lemon water Turmeric powder + juiced apples and oranges 4. continue on with strength training because I love it more than cardio Plus it will make my metabolism faster and torch fat more quickly? :) Cardio + Weights = BAM BAM double whammy I better have abs for the first time in my life Oh speaking of abs. I came upon an " ab calcu...

What I didn't do yesterday, is made up for today

Image
Monday : lackluster fasted cardio Gym ("legs") -box jumps super set with lunges and split squats -box jumps super set with jump roping in place -box jumps super set with squat jumps -abductor machine -sauna I am very weak in lunges, it is so difficult for me. I think it may be a balance/core thing or maybe my right side is more dominant and my left. Therefore I do body weight lunges for now which still make me quite sore the next day. Lunges is an area I can improve on. So yesterday was like a cardio day because all the booty growing machines/racks that I needed were taken and I didn't have time to wait around. Anticipating a rigorous workout, I made yesterday a high carb day too (50 C, 25 P, 25 F).. oops don't think I worked out hard enough for that. (Keep in mind that I am trying IIFYM for the first time so I am really just experimenting with my body and fitness right now.) Tuesday: Today's battle plan. Have to make up for yesterday's -...

IIFYM hot cheeto stains

You know you're doing IIFYM right when you realize your pointer finger and thumb are stained red from hot cheetos while you are paying for the low-carb Carl's Junior burger. HE HE HE So last week I tried macro counting/percentages/IIFYM for the first time and I think my body is liking it. However, at times I did indulge in junkfood (ie: ice cream, beer, chips, etc) and I am going to attempt to do macros the 'clean' way this week to see if results are faster. Also, I have realized that if I eat junkfood, it leaves less room for other meals thus I am a little hungry too (even though I eat 1500-1600 calories) We shall see! Experimenting :) Anyways, it is fasted cardio time this wonderful, gloomy Monday morning which I am hoping means rain shall fall upon southern California! Fasted jump roping time! but usually what i mean by that is shuffling, dancing, hip thrusts, belly dancing, booty popping, unce unce-ing while having either Insanity or Grey's Anatomy play...

90% vs 10%

Image
This is my current progress. I've been lifting, doing fasted cardio, and also suana-ing. But after my lift sessions I would eat such things as poptarts, chips, donuts, pizzas, ice cream bars... I'm pretty sure this is why my progress isn't as effective as it should be. I've decided to quit my literal post workout blackhole meals for the next 1.5 weeks cause next weekend is fricking Outside Lands! Ahhh :D Oh and my friend told me since 90% of diet is how we get abs.. in a way that means 10% can be cheat meals. 10% of 30 days is only 3 days of cheat meals a month. Doesn't this logic make sense? hahha it opened up my mind! Anyways. Push strong dears! There's a way when there's a will. And I want to see what I can achieve .

willpower-less

Image
Today I munched on pineapples with blueberries, had some brown rice with soup, and then munched on a bag of hot cheetos.. Looking at that from a keto/low carb aspect, I totally failed. :( I don't think I ate excessively, however my body is filled with guilt and now I am chugging water to try to wash everything out. I don't think this feeling of shame and disgust is healthy but I'm trying to approach my reprehension with calm and maturity. I remind myself that majority of the time I eat relatively clean and healthy with whole ingredients. And that my dietary setback at least gave me a moment of satisfaction but a sense of resilience to practice more willpower next time. Chips are my kryptonite xD don't ever share chips with me. Their air-like sustenance don't satisfy me enough to let me know enough is enough. That "last chip" really should be your last one Diana! "just one more handful".... But it's ok. One snacking and indulging a lit...

Orange

Image
I was wondering why I have been kind of MIA on my blog. haha then it dawned on me, I've been binge watching Orange is the New Black . .... I believe I finished two seasons in a span of 1-1.5 week. Holy crap. That is dedication. Now I can continue on with my normal life. I'm not exactly sure why the show is so captivating, but it is. (I mean, the show is held in a prison and interestingly even though everyone is restricted and everyday is supposed to be dully monotonous, shit just happens). I think the writers of the show really develop the characters that we as viewers invest our time and interest to the past and present of the characters. And since there's so many characters, there are just so many different angles to follow all leading up to a bigger element. Also, I think it's amazing how they evolve most of the characters and no one is exactly one-dimensional. I believe that's why it's a bit impossible to really despise any of the characters (except...

I'm trying to get abs in a month. Ok more like 3 weeks

Image
It's kind of disheartening that I've been working out all year for a while; ok there have been lapses of weekday workouts and also falling asleep after dinner... And you know how they say, summer bodies are made in winter... Well, I'm still trying to get to that summer body. However, I have to admit it has been a learning experience and I feel like I am one step closer to understanding myself and my body and figuring out what works and what isn't as effective. I know the best way for me to get skinny and lose fat is an intense amount of cardio. Think of doing Insanity diligently or forcing myself to go through an hour of cycling class. My body needs to be shocked, needs to cry, and needs to sweat.   In these pictures I looked like a typical cardio bunny .  But I didn't have any definition. My stomach was still jiggly looking whereas the rest of my body didn't have much fat (of course I lost some of my boobs too). Summer-Fall 2013 I was the skinni...

Get ready to workout with me :)

Image
Stop lounging around  Make some tea and black coffee Pretty yourself up (optional).. yes I'm one of those girls who put on a little bit of makeup for the gym Put on a show/movie and have insanity on the side

Recording myself

Image
I've been fooling around with the idea of recording myself while working out (after I saw some youtubers record themselves doing insanity). Why? Because when you record yourself, for some reason it makes you more accountable and want to go all out in each movie. haha I workout by myself.. so in a way my sad phone/camera and I are kind of like workout partners. Also... this is basically my first time ever editing a video clip. It's not too bad right? hahah 1 round of Tabata is 8 cycles of 20s cardio + 10 s rest (I omitted the resting parts from the video) Int 1: Burpees Int 2: Mummy Kicks Int 3: Jump rope Int 4: Jumping jacks Int 5: Butt Kicks Int 6: Squat Jumps Int 7: High Knees Int 8: Dips I don't get feedback so I'm not sure if I should keep the 10s rests in the video. Well now that I think about it, it would've made sense to include the 10 s rests so that if anyone decides to workout with me, it'd be in real time.. should've thought of t...

Tabata Workout

Tabata 1 round Custom Timer Create your own interval timer or download our interval timer app So, I think Tabata is high intensity interval training. I like it because it's quick spurts of energy expenditure. And you go at your own pace, the fastest and most intense you can push yourself. So 1 round is 8 intervals of 20s (workouts) + 10 s (rest) = 4mins Apparently 4 minutes is enough of a workout, however I like to do 4 rounds total = 16 mins! I'm trying to graduate that to at least 5 rounds next time :) Push Push Push Here's a list of cardio workouts you can alternate. You can also just stick with one workout (ie: sprint all out bawls out for 20 s and rest 10 s then repeat) sprint jumprope burpees mountain climbers plank to pushup pushups pushup jacks dips jumping jacks squat jumps butt kicks high knees

My kryptonite..

Image
Hot cheetos. More specifically lime hot cheetos.. Don't even offer to share a bag with me, I will hog the bag and eat the majority of it and you will low-key be annoyed with me (I'm sorryyy, I will buy you a bag ^_^).  Whenever I have a bag of hot cheetos in my hands, in my mind I'm thinking, "oooh you better stop now, or else you'll feel it tomorrow. Ok, just three more chips to satisfy my mouth.. wait, I lied ok a handful. hmm, the bag is almost done I should save it for tomorrow. Nah, a few pieces would just be teasing me tomorrow, just finish it." No self restraint at all . The best form of preventing this is to not even LOOK at the bag. Don't even acknowledge it. Needless to say, I munched on hot cheetos with glorious satisfaction, on my bed. The next day, the scale told me I gained two-three pounds. Hey, I'm sure it's mostly water weight but I also did have an awesome legs day the day before! *excuses* It's crazy how I wor...
