Thursday Fasted AM workout: BBG wk 2 Arms & abs Afternoon workout: volume squatted right before work. haha almost tripped on my undies and almost flashed someone my vaginaa FOOD: tried to make a smoothie with avocado for the first, but basically made a blueberry guacamole smoothie... hmm, probably not going to try that again :P -currently obsessing over chicken/tuna salad sandwiches. YUM! -cant really find a credible source for apple cider vinegar . but I read that it can help lose belly fat, so I'm going to try to remember to drink about a shot each day + cayenne pepper + cinnamon! Friday So soreee. Was a little difficult to motivate myself this morning, but it's the last day of the week[day] and the first day of the month! Omg it's MAY! Summer body: Week 4 - Sunday & Monday

Image
Sundays are meant for crop tops and pjs with a cup of coffee! Sunday Was pretty sore from all the working out from week 3. But decided I should go work out, especially since it was about time to wash my hair o:) -Kayla Itsines BBG week 1 legs workout -5 min cycling -sauna Monday Mondays are hard. Lately, I've been making my Mondays my rest day because, Mondays are hard . Also, it seems to be the most crowded day of the week at the gym. I've stayed away from fruits and smoothies for a while because of the carbs/sugar - a no-no for keto and low carb diets. I also read that essentially you are consuming more calories than you normally would, you gulf down the fruits in excess. To go about this, you can add more liquids, chia seeds, and veggies. That should be a quick fix. I've forgotten how much I adore smoothies! Lately, I've been drinking a smoothie a day - I think they have the power to make you happy :) Ingredients for pictured smoothie : coconut mea...

Soybean Milk Protein smoothie

Image
This is what I drank after my Leg workout. The day before my mom boiled soybeans and then we put them in the blender and gave them a whirl. (we had Korean Kong Guk Su - Soybean cold noodles) So with some of the leftover soybean milk mixture I decided to incorporate into a smoothie. +frozen blueberries +fresh squeezed orange juice +strawberries +chia seeds I'm trying to add chia seeds to my daily routine because for nutrition-wise, they contain a lot of fat and protein and not much carbs. Also for that reason they also can help curb hunger. This would be useful in a keto/low carb diet since there's not much carbs (in your diet) to keep you full longer. :)

Feeling Green

Image
Lately, I've been quite down on myself. Feeling blue you call it. I've tried to come here many times to start a post, however I didn't feel like writing anything or putting on a front. I felt so uninspired and just so.. lost. But sometimes you have to fake it to make it. My mom also told me to just smile in the mirror and tell myself that I'm lucky, that things work out. There's the well known psychology fact that smiling, even when forced, can lift up your mood. I've been smiling in the mirror, breathing while smiling while working out (maybe creepy..), and also watching funny shows and trying to literally LOL Yea it does help. Temporarily. But I still need to figure out my life. Guess I'll do it while smiling at least.   Watermelon + Kale + H20 smoothie. Yes I know, it kind of looks like I bought the drink from Starbucks. But no I didn't. I just like to reuse clear drink containers temporarily since you can see how awesome your smoothie is an...

another homemade 'protein' shake

Image
omg why didn't I think of using tofu in shakes before?? I sometimes love to just eat raw, silken tofu  because it's kind of like pudding... Tchh who needs protein powder anyways. I love this more natural alternative! < In this smoothie for my post-workout: Pineapples, strawberries, banana, 1/2 cup of tofu and some water. Delicious =) Happy Dianasaur The first two links are more information about tofu as protein source in smoothies and the last link is a recipe for a chocolate/tofu milkshake! http://www.livestrong.com/article/182441-how-to-make-your-own-gym-protein-shake/ http://www.livestrong.com/article/85985-make-protein-shakes-protein-powder/ http://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/2012/09/12/chocolate-protein-milkshake/ healthy, gym, fitness, workout, protein, proteinshake, cheaper, natural, smoothie, post workout, fruits, strawberry, pineapple, banana, tofu, soy,

Homemade Protein Powder!

Image
I recently ran out of protein powder so I started looking up possible substitutes. BLACK BEANS! Haven't tried out this powder yet, but excited I have all the ingredients at home already and don't have to shell out money for protein powders, they're quite pricey.. Also feeling better because this time I know exactly what I'm putting into my body instead of wondering what that amino acid-protein-lab synthesis information is all about :) Step 1 : 1 tbsp each of dried soybeans, oats, brown rice, and black beans to coffee grinder. Soybeans and black beans are protein-rich but strong flavored, whereas brown rice and oats have less protein and will mask the stronger taste of the soybeans/black beans,  (soo.. I'm assuming everything is dried) Step 2: Grind until flour-like consistency. Add Ins: 1/2 of a vanilla bean and 2 tsps. each of maca powder and spirulina.   Can add chorela, matcha, wheat grass powder, raw cacao powder, etc Step 3: Keep protein powd...

Secretly Orange

I really wanted a green smoothie so I finally washed the spinach bunch and attempted to mak e frozen peaches from costco 1 orange water uh.... I basically kept adding enough spinach to make a salad. Verdict: it was a beautiful color but tasted only of spinach HAHA.  next time using apples or bananas or both! +I added a splash of grapefruit juice. and it helped surprisingly
