7/12 til Hawaii - sun, mon, tues

Image
Ok! so I've been pretty stellar about my diet . The only thing processed I've been consuming is wheat bread, oatmeal, and protein powder. And absolutely no junk food eaten so far! haha I think when I was trying out IIFYM , I gave myself the liberty to eat some junk food saying, ahh all carbs are the same. But I think my body does appreciate more natural carbs from fruits instead. Regardless, it does make me feel fresher and filled more with vitality when I eat sources straight from the earth. Also! My current morning caffeine fix is the cold brewed black coffee!  I'm liking the convenience of not having to wait for water to boil, and the sweeter notes of the coffee as well. :)) Plus it's quite nice to sip on a cold coffee on a sunny day Sun Ended May with an awesome Squat Sunday and Legs session. Mon Noticed the gym is most definitely getting busier as the days are getting longer and summer is upon us. Had a pretty decent back workout after work, but was too l...

7/12 til Hawaii - where did week 6 go?

Image
so... last week, week 6,  was a week of sadness because I left my heart in Norcal. Unfortunately instead of going to the gym to squeeze out some endorphins, I lounged around eating hot cheetos and ice cream. my goodness, and I feel the effects of the junk food calories. Since I only have 6 more weeks til Hawaii and I really absolutely want abs, I need to crank out my workouts and tone down my diet. For the next 2 weeks, I'm going to just do good old fashioned " eating clean " and taking out all the junk food & processed foods. I don't think I have the patience and experimental mindset to test out iifym for now. And I also do not want to do a low carb-keto diet as of yet because I still want to eat my carbs, most especially fruits. We shall seee. Damn, I really want abs.

5/12 til Hawaii - so far this week :)

Image
ok so it is Wednesday  and so far I have been pretty good with working out and generally keeping my diet low carb. Except, I am wanting, such want, a donut! Must restrain and see how effectively one week of dedication can show me. Things I have been working on so far: Documenting my food helps me stay on track and be mindful of the carbs. I've been letting most of my carbs be fruits (except sometimes I've been allowing myself cereal in the morning) hehe "healthy breakfast" food Satiating myself with lots of water & tea. And also drinking a full cup of water first thing in the morning. and also not dilly-dallying around much in the morning and forcing myself to do fasted cardio  asap. Or, if I'm not planning to do fasted cardio, I try to eat breakfast to fuel me up for a lifting sesh! doing more cardio by adding it in after lifting. So, I have this pretty great rule : I only allow myself to watch Friends  when I'm doing cardio. I choose to do sta...

4/12 til Hawaii - Oh. My.

Image
Sorry guys! I'm not sure how the week passed me by so quickly? It's funny how I've been waking up early and sleeping at a decent hour too. And I think I was quite productive each day, but still didn't give myself enough time and motivation to blog. I think I've been just kind of in a blogging rut - But I promise I worked out! hmmm, if workout is not blogged or documented, was there really a workout? haha jk Wait. I also think I had another culprit - LOL Youtube vids . Lately I've been obsessing over youtubers' apartment tours and morning routines. HAa.. I'm such a "voyeur." Youtube videos have given me other forms of motivation and inspiration, although it does create a lot of wants as well. (well, that's why there's so many ads and product placement right? exactly) Anyways, What I've learned this week : 1) Planning out meals in advance is definitely helpful. I do have to tweak couple times, but having a set plan helped preven...

3/12 til Hawaii - Thursday & Friday

Image
Thursday AM workout : Fasted cardio 30:30 jumproping for about 12 minutes PM workout : Deadlift, back workout then 10 min cycle and sauna Friday I'm convinced bacon brings all the boys to the yard ;). So if you want to impress a dude, I suggest bacon weaves! lol, but this was my answer to my laziness and apprehension to frying bacon and having oil splatter everywhere. Bacon weave was the convenient answer for me to bake a bunch at a time whilst making it look "aesthetic" :) Once again, I've decided I'm going to do keto/low carb diet because lately I've been eating carbs too liberally (my iifym percentage for carbs is a bit high for me personally). I know my body is sensitive to carbs even though I'd like to pretend my metabolism is better that that. Guess I have to train my body :( and incorporate more carbs into my diet gradually. I will also be trying to eat most of my carbs in the morning and eat more naturally as well. Bacon weave, fried ...

3/12 til Hawaii - Tuesday & Wednesday

Image
Tuesday On cinco de drinko (Tuesday, May 5) I only did a quick fasted BBG Arms & ABs (but in all honesty it was a bit half assed) Wednesday I was actually planning to do fasted volume deadlifting because I ate ALOT of CHIPS the previous night. But my manfriend reminded me that it's about time I do CHEST DAY . LOLOL I fricking hate chest day. The only times I ever workout my chest is when I visit manfriend (long distance relationship) or when I do the pushups that are in the BBG. Ok, So I chugged my preworkout before entering the gym and had my workouts planned out and written out, so I don't look like a lost lamb. Workout plan (Chest) : -Warmup 20 pushups -Benchpress SS with pushups until failure -Chest flyes (mid and low) -Cable chest press -Rear delt flyes -Standing front lat pushdown (I absolutely love this one! you can see your back muscles!) -Tri pushdown CARDIO: 10 mins of cycling 5 mins of sauna GOOD frickin fasted workout! SO, Funny story : I was ...

3/12 til Hawaii - Monday

Image
Had to do some errands in the morning therefore I wasn't able to do fasted cardio. I woke up early, but dilly dallied around until I realized I ran out of time... hahah. So I ran out the door with an egg salad sandwich. After errands, I went to the gym since it was right there! Workout : -I did squats and went up to 135 lbs and tried to do some sets. Then I dropped back down to 95 lbs and did 6 good sets of 5-7 while doing bodyweight jump squats in between. -Next I went to the abduction machine and did 3 sets -Finally I tried out hip thrusts using the leg extension machine . (I found the picture example on google). First time attempting this workout and I really like it! Definitely felt it in my glutes, and I will be continuing to add this to my booty growing regimen. I think ladies have the most creative workout moves and adaptations. LOL you don't really see guys doing these kind of workouts or using machines in a different manner than what they were intended for. Exce...

2/12 til Hawaii - Monday to Thursday

Hurro, Jury Duty 2nd day at court, brought charger and listened to podcasts and snacked during recesses This week has been both fast and slow. I had jury duty for the first time and got selected to be a juror. I came with no expectations and left with respect, empathy, and insight. I've noticed how some people are so selfish and indifferent (those that were dismissed from jury selection), but also others who are moral and hold our laws to a high principle. As Americans, we really need to be grateful that we have the right to a trial and that 12 strangers spend X amount of hours and days to listen without bias and to be vigilant in upholding the laws. On the Go Diet In other news though.. wow so many breaks and recesses and long lunch hours. From Monday to Wednesday I was at the courthouse from 9am to 330 pm. And I did not plan nor pack my meals/snacks accordingly. One day I KILLED a Chipotle burrito bowl in one sitting cause I was famished and also had to rush to work ri...

1/12 til Hawaii - Friday

Image
Week 1 Friday BRB, Nikki Blackketter is my fitspiration. haha and yes I watch her workout movies to motivate me and also to make me get pumped up for my own workout. Drank black coffee out of a hello kitty cup (like a boss) and went to the gym to do a fasted Back workout: wide arm lat pulldowns close grip pulldowns cable rows, rope face pulls bar pushdowns/triceps single lat pulldowns unilateral rows 5 mins of cycling However, afterwards I met with my friend and had a huge cup of taro slushy + egg pudding + boba. I'm fat .. I figured.... I can still treat myself to my cravings for a little bit, but I really need to hone it down furreal for the next 11 weeks HEH. I promise after this weekend? o:) why after this weekend? Because my manfriend is visiting mee <3

1/12 til Hawaii - Thursday

Image
Week 1 Thursday so my knee was hurting in the morning and I wasn't able to deadlift :(. But I was able to still do Kayla Itsines BBG week 1 Arms & Abs. hurtss I think on this day I have realized the importance of stretching and foam rolling. err.. and to just not go out of my own comfort zone and run :P jk. I think if I do want to sprint  HIIT,  I should do it at the park where there's lots of grass since a. I'm clumsy b. running on grass is less harsh on your knees/joints than running on pavement and/or treadmill 85 days

1/12 til Hawaii - Wednesday

Image
Week 1 Wednesday haha I had a sinful coffee shake from Mcdonalds in the morning, but my body decided to be a bit lactose intolerant. lol! so morning gym was delayed for a little bit -_- I was finally able to go to the gym and did 12 minutes of sprinting HIIT  on the treadmill then 8 mins of cycling & cool down. Throughout the day, I ate relatively clean and low carb,  until I came back from work and saw a bag of kettle chips in the kitchen....my gawd, my weakness. cheeeps haha 86 days I am editing this Thursday morning and I am incredibly sore from the squats done Tuesday evening. And NOT as bloated this morning as I thought I'd be hehe (from the chip gorge 'party'). I also think I must've hurt my left knee from sprinting, because when I squat down and try to get up, it feels so fragile and unstable! ahhh I hope it's something that can be healed naturally by my awesome body. Going to foam roll the shit out of my legs and try to increase blood flow. F...

1/12 til Hawaii - Tuesday

Week 1 - Tuesday Nothing really extraordinary this day. well except that I totally killed it at the gym. Again :) In the morning, I originally wanted to go do HIIT sprints on the treadmill. but I just did not have the willpower so I ended up doing Kayla Itsines BBG - Arms & Abs . oh gawd my two most un-favorite body parts to workout *cry face* hahaha this picture made me laugh today I had a busy day at work and also someone sprayed the room with too much air freshener so my head was hurting. I was just too temperamental to want to deal with waiting for machines and racks so I headed straight home afterwards, and happily conversed with family during dinner. LOL this reminds me of Sims when their mood levels get higher when they interact with their friends and family. By 10 pm I was ready to force myself to go gym (even without caffeine!) and did box jumps intervals worked out lats while waiting for squat rack SQUAT . did 3 sets of 3 with 135lbs :D YEA. trying to get ...

1/12 til Hawaii - Monday

Image
Week 1 - Monday I've noticed that most of my titles on this blog are some sort of a countdown. hahha it seems like I live my life in countdowns, can't really blame an NYE baby for that ;D! This time I'm giving myself 12 weeks, so they will be in fraction form. Since it's week 1 right now, it's 1/12! I earnestly did each workout of the Monday Legs and Cardio . For each circuit of 7 minutes, I was able to do it 2x.. too fast too serious.  Working out in the morning allows me to be more proactive and productive throughout the day. I already know about myself that I get quite exhausted, drained by the end of day. Also, I have this personal rule to not intake any caffeine after 12pm. So I'm trying to make my cardio, which is also fasted, in the morning since motivation for cardio is the hardest for me to bring about. Monday evening, I got off work a little earlier than usual. Originally planned to squat but I forgot my workout pants. I figured it would be qui...

Exactly 12 weeks til Hawaii!!

Anytime is a good time to start fitness. But if not abs on the daily is inspiring enough, then Hawaii should be one of the  motivational  reasons to really dedicate & challenge myself. So I am going to restart the Kayla Itsines BBG guide and do it thoroughly. The past months I've been jumping around within the program while doing my own thing on the side. But this time around I will do each and every workout exactly how it is scheduled. LOL I took my "before" picture for the umpteenth time, but let's hope that I will be able to comfortably frolic around Hawaii with ABS :D  Time to go to Week 1's Monday: Legs & cardio!
