Day 19: Fasted dancing & cheesy chicken bake

Everyday I'm trying to make my mom do squats . HAHA do you remember starting out with body weight only and then gradually adding more as you progress? Oops, I immediately started her off with 10 lbs and she said she'll be sore tomorrow. Oh mother, you are so dramatic. You guys should make your mamas do some body weight workouts if they have not yet started. I worry about brittle bones, and loss of calcium, and osteoporosis. So even though my mom may not be proactive about her future health, I will be her enforcer! >:) When on a Keto/Low-carb diet  initially it's quite easy to lose weight. But I think it's definitely mostly water weight. but still great 2 lb loss in less than a week. wooo hoo. I was craving pizza today. But, Willpower  dammit. So I knew there was some leftover rotisserie chicken and a floret of broccoli at hand. Baked it in the oven with cheese and turkey pepperonis! Pasta with this would've been so good x.x :) Rawr, Dianasaur

Day 14 Squats, Deadlifts oh my. Day 15 CST

Thursday I believe I just ran around the neighborhood and wasn't very proactive with my working out. So I won't count this day. Day 14 Friday .  I spent most of the morning getting my eyes checked out and then immediately after I went to the gym for  Volume training  Squats! -warmup with the bar -add the 25 plates and do a set -make it 35 plates and do two sets -make it 45 plates and do as many reps. I take rests in between since I don't have anyone to spot me and every time I don't succeed in completing my squat I have to take the plates off and raise the bar again LOL.  -afterwards go back down to 25 plates and do volume training I also did some deadlifts, I couldn't resist. Then did Adbuctor machine before heading home. Oh but first, let me take a selfie I'm telling you  Squats > Deadlift  for booty growth. Trust me, I like big butts and I want one too. Day 10 and Day 11

Weekends are for indulgences , right? hehh because on Saturday I had carby Chinese food deliciousness for lunch, then late at night hung out with friends and ate a couple Trader Joe's lemon bars & wined on some pink moscato. and then on Sunday, I had Taiwanese breakfast for the first time! My friends ordered in Chinese but I believe we ordered: turnip cake, shredded pork rice roll, scallion pancake, shrimp omelette (it was pretty wet), pig in a steamed bun (pork belly was so soft), and to wash that all down, soymilk. Going on food adventures and having such a satisfying, delicious experience without spending much at all makes me Super happy  I knew once I got home after eating that satiating meal, I'd want to crawl onto my bed and watch Tv while relenting to the food coma.  So I dragged myself to the gym for Day 10   (Sunday) workout: -Did more SQUATS because my glutes were not hurting from Saturday's sesh. Day 9: I want to be a badass

Been watching  Chuck  and seeing the female protagonist, Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski) do killer moves and kick ass with hand to hand combat. All of a sudden I want to learn martial arts and become a certified BADASS.   I think it would also be awesome to have the skill to use a stick, pole, katana, sword. >:) So, I am adding become a badass  into my goals. Pretty excited! Day 9 (Saturday) I woke up well-rested and decided I didn't want coffee! On days I feel a natural motivation I try to stray away from unnecessary caffeine. I heard caffeine addiction and withdrawals are not so cool. Anyways Saturday was supposed to be a SQUAT day but this day I realized it really means = do every other workout while waiting for the squat rack . I had a great workout sesh however: -wide grip lat pulldowns -close grip lat pulldowns -deadlifts -then finally some squats.  Unfortunally by the time I went to the squat rack I was a bit tired, understa...

Day 8ish - plethora of fasted cardios and lackadaisical gymming

Lost count of workout days.. Had a lackluster past weekend with a mild case of FOMO. Had to study for test and also help my students study for theirs as well. Furthermore, since I worked out on and off throughout this week, my shower schedule was off and adding onto the mismanagement of my time I slept a tremendous amount. Zzzzz I wish I could carry over the excess hours I sleep. I saw this fact somewhere and thinking about the amount of time we spend sleeping fascinated me. 25 years if you sleep 8 hours on average. haha wow. So if you're 75 years old, you only really have 50 years of life experience :P, since 25 years were spent sleeping like Sleeping Beauty. so.. although I have been working out throughout the week but not as diligently as I would've liked, I'll call today's post Day 8 of workouts I am still penguin waddling around from two days ago when I did 10x10 volume training on squats. woo! New food obsession

hehe, if you read my blog once in a while you know I have random food obsessions. This time it's: poached egg ! but more specifically MICROWAVED poached egg Gawd, poached egg is so awesome. That rich, creamy, runny yolk making love to everything it caresses. HAH here's some yolkporn  to remind you of how sexy poached eggs are (I have been too overeager to take pictures of my own yolky egg so I googled some hehe) Salmon eggs benedict Open faced poached egg sammich Oh holy moly, kiss me   poached egg burger fapfapfap. Oh but anyways, I did not know you can cook an egg in the microwave. The microwave at our house is kind of weak so I have to microwave for about 1:30 to 2 minutes, but I love this method of cooking perfect poached eggs. :) never have to wait for water to boil! Week 1 workouts

haha this is a little embarrassing.. putting pictures up of my progress but I want to be more open and candid with my fitness journey. So I'm kind of laughing at this before and after for my first week because of how 'drastic' it is. The picture on the left was from the past Sunday after July 4 celebrating of eating, drinking, and no working out. And the right is a pictures from a yesterday morning after almost a week of lifting, eating low carbs mostly, and morning cardio sessions. Quick advice. The night before the 'before' picture, make sure to eat some pizza and a burger then wash it down with a cold beer. When taking the before pic, remember to jut out your guy and then you'll have a 'drastic' picture ;) It can possibly trick you and motivate you because of how much progress you have made in a week! haha actually, I lost 4 lbs though. It's mostly water weight I'm assuming but it's been stable at -4 lbs : Anyways I kept track ...

Oh man I gotta mentally prepare myself for LEG day. Wear the right clothes, fully charge phone for music, find some fitspiration and think about BOOTY #operationgrowabooty Also hope to catch Ryan Gosling at the gym Yesterday I went to a cafe and got one of their  Intelligentsia coffees . It was so strong (& delish!) I felt slightly buzzed. Needless to say it was perfect for LEG DAY and I went HARD at the gym. However I couldn't fall asleep til 6 am the next morning..  Ps, I don't usually drink coffee and tea (unless I water them down) and I most definitely restrict myself from drinking caffeine after 3pm simply because I actually stay awake. Why do people (Ahem bros) suck at re-racking. The only comfort I have to having to take off all the plates is that it's extra energy expenditure and I guess I'm still "lifting things and putting them down." Ryan Gosling fitspiration/motivation. Thursday, May 29 PUSH

PUSH chest press 3x12 squats 5 sets leg press 3x10 tri pressdown 3x10 shoulder press/y-press 3x10 Yesterday I kind of lagged so I did the workout fasted. I'm personally used to fasting till 1-2 pm so I was still energetic. I did eat a handful of peanuts just in case - don't want to be lightheaded and faint at the gym! After the workout, I realized I like to do cardio fasted but strength training should be done after a solid meal. I didn't feel like my performance was weaker or that I burnt out quicker, but preferably I won't be weightlifting on an empty stomach again. I thought it was so funny that my sweat marks made this face -___-. I call it the "weh" face But this is what I got to eat post workout. Chirashi bowl - some carbs and protein :)

It's kind of disheartening that I've been working out all year for a while; ok there have been lapses of weekday workouts and also falling asleep after dinner... And you know how they say, summer bodies are made in winter... Well, I'm still trying to get to that summer body. However, I have to admit it has been a learning experience and I feel like I am one step closer to understanding myself and my body and figuring out what works and what isn't as effective. I know the best way for me to get skinny and lose fat is an intense amount of cardio. Think of doing Insanity diligently or forcing myself to go through an hour of cycling class. My body needs to be shocked, needs to cry, and needs to sweat.   In these pictures I looked like a typical cardio bunny .  But I didn't have any definition. Volume Training

This past weekend my Buffy @grraceface put me through squats volume training. That was on Saturday, today is Monday evening and my legs are still sorely sore. With 75 lbs I did 10 set of 10 reps, with 90 seconds of rest between each set. 10x10 = 100 squats! Usually with squats you're supposed to do the hip thrust once you're up, but with the volume training she told me to go deep down into the squats and just come back up then squat.. til yo set is done. I noticed the first 4 sets were ok/do-able but once I got to sets 5-7 I was faltering. I think the 8th set was the hardest for me, but I told myself just 2 more sets and 9th and 10th were done with more ease. Interesting how our bodies and minds tie in mentally and physically so well. 100 posts already?

I guess I shall address my goal of trying to grow a booty for my 100th post! My hips are quite narrow and although I believe my butt is perky, it just doesn't have a lot of mass to it. Therefore my body is kind of straight and actually closer to being an inverted triangle because I am also blessed with being slightly top-heavy... o:) Furthermore, I used to swim as a child and was on the swim team in high school so needless to say, my shoulders used to be very broad. I never thought I could naturally make a drastic change to my butt (like how people can't enlarge their chests without plastic surgery?..). I mean I knew you can make your butt perkier and have a nicer shape, but did not realize that you can make it buffer and in turn become bigger. So now I understand, squats can help you grow your booty and pushups can make your boobs perkier and also make them a little bigger. GOOD NEWS RIGHT? This picture best shows you that there are three muscles that compose our butt...

Yay for workout dates :)

One of my best friends and I have decided to workout together every Wednesdays! So good because we keep each other accountable and learn new workout routines. I think I want us to switch off every other week to plan out the workout of the day :P But yesterday I planned the workout and she wanted to do arms and I wanted to do booty ARMS -Dips -Cable crossovers -Cable pressdown -on knees pushups LEGS -leg press -swiss machine kick backs -abduction on floor -jumping squats (vs she did wide stance, narrow stance, and sumo stance squats) I usually do weights that I can go as 'heavy' as I personally can and do 8 reps each. But with Anabelle, we sometimes did lighter weights and instead did more reps. It works! my arms are hurtingg Love how we're working out together! But then we went to yardhouse afterwards and enjoyed some happy hour goods. OOPS :) maybe next time we won't do that, except just enjoy a post-workout brew ;)

I'm so bad with temptations :D

Just got asked if I wanted in n out.. can't refuse Saw a bag of chips on the table, had a few. handfuls.. Discovered 4 cartons of ice cream in freezer. Actually refrained myself! This is why I never buy junk food! Anywayss, I've been pretty busy and drained the past three weeks. Got to travel back to norcal to visit my awesomely cool friends for July 4 and time just passed by so quickly. Ate relatively healthy and did Insanity 85% of the days there. Then rushed back home via Amtrak with basically everyone and their moms and their families the Sunday after and found out I'm returning my car for another. And finally BAM waking up at 6 am every morning for school. It's been 1.5 weeks and I'm gradually warming up to my new 'family.' There are two girls that I seem to click the best with, but I most definitely have an easier time befriending guys. "WE NEED MOAR DUDES," as my guy friends would say. I got you guys, I'm recruiting. That I updated most of the days with the workouts I did everyday.. I guess not! But 2.5 weeks of constant working out did my body good, except I totally, unjustifiably, gluttonously fed it with ice cream, beers, fast food, and sushi buffet this past week... I am going to be a hermit and just do me right now! I am selfish like that and absolutely love my own time to complete my personal goals, work by my own schedule, and read/watch/question my mind. Going back to that grow-a-booty and show-the-shy-abs routine. This picture was from last Thursday and I'm happy to say the squats are progressing =) Eating out basically everyday from the 17th to 23rd has really affected my body for the bad :P so the goal for the rest of May is to eat at home and to eat clean :)! Good thing I am no longer going to EDC and do not have to worry about having a 'raver' 'Plur' 'Edm' body which every girl apparently already has ready.. Gotta get that summer bikini bod though! ...

'Ultimate' butt workout

I'm sure if you're around tumblr, you might've seen this workout floating about. I finally decided to go to fitbodyhq.com and check out their page: it's golden! I don't know, but for some reason, I just want to read every single article and try out every single workout... Maybe it's because the workouts seem doable and reasonable and don't just throw you into the extreme workout regimens. But they're perfectly challenging as well. Yesterday was an interestingly occupied, good day! My best friend (let's call her Jelly) from college had a sleep over at my house and unbeknownst to me, I'd be friend-sitting her til the early evening because that is when her meeting will be. In any occasion, I'd gladly entertain her and we'd go eat food, browse internet, venture about in stores, etc. But I assumed she'd have a super early meeting and I'd make it to the 'date' with a guy friend. hahaa Jelly calls it a date, I call it a conversation over coffee. We woke up too late for a our ideal workout in the morning, but then was probably too late for me to make the 2 pm 'date.' So we idled around my house watching youtube clips of ukulele serenading, reading articles online, and just being us.
