12.23 Day 3 - Workout for the food gains

Image
Wednesday 12.23 Workout : -Volume sumo deadlift -DB single leg deadlift -cable leg abduction -cable glute kickbacks -single leg press -one legged side press I was a bit rushed for time because I kind of lagged with the workout this morning. Also had lunch plans with my brother so I didn't do very good time-managing on my part. However, I think I did a pretty decent job busting out my workouts efficiently and quickly. I just wish I didn't forget my polar watch so I could know how many calories I burnt with this pretty killer workout day! Diet : okk. So I did 2 pretty decent lowcarb-keto diet days before today. HAHA I guess I made it a high carb day today :) I knew I was going to eat pretty carby and not refrain, so my logic is to make up for it at the gym. Regardless, no regrets! It is definitely easier to stay on your workout schedule and be diligent with your diet if your friends all live far away or are super busy. But when there's the occasional time you ...

Summer body: Week 4 - Tuesday & Wednesday

Image
Tuesday Drank a fruity, carby smoothie for energy and went to gym to do volume squat training & squat jumps in between sets. Manfriend said doing cardio in between sets is helpful for burning fat. Ok fine you convinced me. Fanny pack was a great idea Wednesday The day was glorious and not too hot. For fasted cardio I tried to jog around my block; I looked up the distance and realized if I jogged up and down 5x = 1 mile. Buttt, I absolutely am not a fan of cardio so after doing that twice decided to instead just fast walk around the neighborhood. haha I found a lavender bush along the way! :)) going to make a natural bug/spider repellent with the sprigs I collect >:) PM workout: did back & bicep lifting sesh then 10 mins of cycling

Summer body: Week 3, let's work off those noodles

Image
My favorite comfort food: Jjampong & Jja jja mein Oh man, it's about 8 pm on a Friday night and I just woke up from a food coma slumber. Currently drinking coffee and tea to wake me up and to also help me digest the NOODLES I have gorged on previously. --- 2 hours later ---- Although, I ate semi-gluttonously, it has given me energy and motivation to KILL my late night Friday workout: Volume training Deadlift. 135 lbs 10x10 5 mins stairmaster + 10 mins cycling I was pretty surprised how busy the gym still was at 10 pm. I originally wanted to do volume squats but all the racks were taken. rack rack city. Edit: here's a clip of me doing one set of deadlifts

oh my where has the time gone: 3 MORE DAYS

Day 14 Squats, Deadlifts oh my. Day 15 CST

Image
Thursday I believe I just ran around the neighborhood and wasn't very proactive with my working out. So I won't count this day. Day 14 Friday .  I spent most of the morning getting my eyes checked out and then immediately after I went to the gym for  Volume training  Squats! -warmup with the bar -add the 25 plates and do a set -make it 35 plates and do two sets -make it 45 plates and do as many reps. I take rests in between since I don't have anyone to spot me and every time I don't succeed in completing my squat I have to take the plates off and raise the bar again LOL.  -afterwards go back down to 25 plates and do volume training I also did some deadlifts, I couldn't resist. Then did Adbuctor machine before heading home. Oh but first, let me take a selfie I'm telling you  Squats > Deadlift  for booty growth. Trust me, I like big butts and I want one too. Day 15 Saturday .  Today I got to workout and teach my f...

Day 10 and Day 11

Image
Weekends are for indulgences , right? hehh because on Saturday I had carby Chinese food deliciousness for lunch, then late at night hung out with friends and ate a couple Trader Joe's lemon bars & wined on some pink moscato. and then on Sunday, I had Taiwanese breakfast for the first time! My friends ordered in Chinese but I believe we ordered: turnip cake, shredded pork rice roll, scallion pancake, shrimp omelette (it was pretty wet), pig in a steamed bun (pork belly was so soft), and to wash that all down, soymilk. Going on food adventures and having such a satisfying, delicious experience without spending much at all makes me Super happy  I knew once I got home after eating that satiating meal, I'd want to crawl onto my bed and watch Tv while relenting to the food coma.  So I dragged myself to the gym for Day 10   (Sunday) workout: -Did more SQUATS because my glutes were not hurting from Saturday's sesh. Did my damn volume training! -Leg Abd...

Day 9: I want to be a badass

Image
Been watching  Chuck  and seeing the female protagonist, Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski) do killer moves and kick ass with hand to hand combat. All of a sudden I want to learn martial arts and become a certified BADASS.   I think it would also be awesome to have the skill to use a stick, pole, katana, sword. >:) So, I am adding become a badass  into my goals. Pretty excited! Day 9 (Saturday) I woke up well-rested and decided I didn't want coffee! On days I feel a natural motivation I try to stray away from unnecessary caffeine. I heard caffeine addiction and withdrawals are not so cool. Anyways Saturday was supposed to be a SQUAT day but this day I realized it really means = do every other workout while waiting for the squat rack . I had a great workout sesh however: -wide grip lat pulldowns -close grip lat pulldowns -deadlifts -then finally some squats.  Unfortunally by the time I went to the squat rack I was a bit tired, understa...

Day 8ish - plethora of fasted cardios and lackadaisical gymming

Image
Lost count of workout days.. Had a lackluster past weekend with a mild case of FOMO. Had to study for test and also help my students study for theirs as well. Furthermore, since I worked out on and off throughout this week, my shower schedule was off and adding onto the mismanagement of my time I slept a tremendous amount. Zzzzz I wish I could carry over the excess hours I sleep. I saw this fact somewhere and thinking about the amount of time we spend sleeping fascinated me. 25 years if you sleep 8 hours on average. haha wow. So if you're 75 years old, you only really have 50 years of life experience :P, since 25 years were spent sleeping like Sleeping Beauty. so.. although I have been working out throughout the week but not as diligently as I would've liked, I'll call today's post Day 8 of workouts I am still penguin waddling around from two days ago when I did 10x10 volume training on squats. woo! Although I had a great squat session, I was pretty irrit...

Back VOLUME

ahh my biceps are hurting, or is it my back? Back/Bicep days are one of my more intense workouts of the week. However, I never really feel like I workout my back very well. Like I can feel the soreness in my arms, but not really throughout my back.. hmm Back & Biceps -10 minutes HIIT stairmaster -10x10 Volume  pullups 4 sets of the following workouts: -Close grip pulldowns -Cable rows -T- Bar rows -Hyperextensions Ok so for 2.5 weeks I've been doing a Keto diet with a couple lapses of carb cheat days :) hahah I think it's been pretty effective however I haven't stuck with it long enough for the results to be exactly conclusive. It was weird that I craved carbs/sugars and actually wanted to eat oatmeal and sweet potato and brown rice only because the diet strictly doesn't allow it. (I'll try to write more about my quick experiment with keto diet soon!).  I've decided to incorporate carbs back into my diet, but only trying to keep it at comple...

Deadlifting high :)

Today was my deadlifting day! But I was also very lazy in the morning and didn't do fasted cardio. xD Must go harder tmw then for cardio. So.. Last time I did deadlift with my man friend, I got to surpass my mental and physical block of 135 lbs! Holy guacamole. For months I've been stuck and could NOT lift it off the floor at all. However, after a couple of weeks of not working on deadlifts, I was so shocked that I lifted 135 lbs with ease and actually went up to 155 lbs in one gym session. It was crazy I tell you! I can't believe I'm making these gains everywhere. Seeing progress like that really motivates me more and puts me on such a high because there's proof that my body is indeed changing and getting strong. It's an amazing experience even though I still feel like a noob at the gym sometimes. I wonder if I'll ever have that confidence at the gym (maybe when I finally get abs and can shamelessly walk around with a sports bra on, GLOAT). My work...

Volume Training

Image
This past weekend my Buffy @grraceface put me through squats volume training. That was on Saturday, today is Monday evening and my legs are still sorely sore. With 75 lbs I did 10 set of 10 reps, with 90 seconds of rest between each set. 10x10 = 100 squats! Usually with squats you're supposed to do the hip thrust once you're up, but with the volume training she told me to go deep down into the squats and just come back up then squat.. til yo set is done. I noticed the first 4 sets were ok/do-able but once I got to sets 5-7 I was faltering. I think the 8th set was the hardest for me, but I told myself just 2 more sets and 9th and 10th were done with more ease. Interesting how our bodies and minds tie in mentally and physically so well. Ok so this is my song of the day for Monday! Britney Spears - Work B**ch! You want a hot body? You want a Bugatti?                                     ...
