Curls for the Girls

I've kind of been obsessed with wanting a nice, cut back.. in addition to trying to grow my glutes and shedding stubborn belly fat while trying not to lose my God-given nicer mounds of fat above. I want so many things T_T. Does that make me a motivated, goal-oriented, go-getter? Yes yes, let's just say that instead of labeling me as someone who isn't satisfied. So, I started doing the Macros,IIFYM, Flexible dieting thing. hahah hype?? I'm not sure, but so far my body is going well with this uncertain flow. I've also been eating 1500+ calories when before I would unintentionally be eating below 1200, sometimes even eating at around 1000 (unintentional! I've just been eating 'clean food' that were not caloric-dense therefore I was always full). Now I have more carbs in my diet and I'm loving it! PUSH chest press 3x12 squats 5 sets leg press 3x10 tri pressdown 3x10 shoulder press/y-press 3x10 Yesterday I kind of lagged so I did the workout fasted. I'm personally used to fasting till 1-2 pm so I was still energetic. I did eat a handful of peanuts just in case - don't want to be lightheaded and faint at the gym! After the workout, I realized I like to do cardio fasted but strength training should be done after a solid meal. I didn't feel like my performance was weaker or that I burnt out quicker, but preferably I won't be weightlifting on an empty stomach again. I thought it was so funny that my sweat marks made this face -___-. I call it the "weh" face But this is what I got to eat post workout. Chirashi bowl - some carbs and protein :)

Back VOLUME

ahh my biceps are hurting, or is it my back? Back/Bicep days are one of my more intense workouts of the week. However, I never really feel like I workout my back very well. Like I can feel the soreness in my arms, but not really throughout my back.. hmm Back & Biceps -10 minutes HIIT stairmaster -10x10 Volume  pullups 4 sets of the following workouts: -Close grip pulldowns -Cable rows -T- Bar rows -Hyperextensions Ok so for 2.5 weeks I've been doing a Keto diet with a couple lapses of carb cheat days :) hahah I think it's been pretty effective however I haven't stuck with it long enough for the results to be exactly conclusive. It was weird that I craved carbs/sugars and actually wanted to eat oatmeal and sweet potato and brown rice only because the diet strictly doesn't allow it. (I'll try to write more about my quick experiment with keto diet soon!).  I've decided to incorporate carbs back into my diet, but only trying to keep it at comple...

Volume Training

This past weekend my Buffy @grraceface put me through squats volume training. That was on Saturday, today is Monday evening and my legs are still sorely sore. With 75 lbs I did 10 set of 10 reps, with 90 seconds of rest between each set. 10x10 = 100 squats! Usually with squats you're supposed to do the hip thrust once you're up, but with the volume training she told me to go deep down into the squats and just come back up then squat.. til yo set is done. I noticed the first 4 sets were ok/do-able but once I got to sets 5-7 I was faltering. I think the 8th set was the hardest for me, but I told myself just 2 more sets and 9th and 10th were done with more ease. Interesting how our bodies and minds tie in mentally and physically so well. Deadlifting high

This past weekend I had one of the best workouts I have ever had because my best friend came to visit me and there was finally someone who pushed me with my workouts. I asked him for a regimen that'll target our backs and butt so it consisted of sprint walking on a "hill," lunges, squats, deadlifts, lat pulldowns, pullups, pushups, and leg raises. I was definitely sore for the next two days. I am so glad of this workout because I was able to show myself how much I can push myself and how much I can endure and achieve. Our workout lasted two hours and although I was relieved it was over, I felt like maybe, just maybe, I could've done more; well, to the point of pure fall to the floor exhaustion. With squats I was able to do 95 lbs but was a little too scared to do more. (my squats before were with 25 lb plates only :P) And for someone who never deadlifted because she was scared of hurting her back, I was able to do two sets with 95 lbs. I love having workout buddies

I'm very "high expectation" when I write down my workouts each time. Meaning, each workout is pretty dang intense. However when I workout by myself, I tend to give myself some leeway and you know, take out some reps here and there. Mebbe a set too... o:) BUT, when I'm working out with friends, I realized they're all amazingly very motivating and are really good at pushing both of us to complete the regimen that I wrote down; no leeway. Maybe... Weekends keep me alive

I can't believe how quickly time passes by. It's so weird because everyday that passes by, I'm doing generally routine regimens; I can understand how people who do the same boring old lifestyle can fall into the pattern and not realize how quickly life passed them by. It's a sobering thought.. Luckily it's the summer and my friends help me not drift away and get lost into my own la-la, introvert cave. I'm really grateful that my friends constantly try to catch up with me even if it's just over a little bit of food and slightly intoxicated conversations, or just making new memories and dancing the night away celebrating and enjoying our youths and friendships. I'm also glad that people think I'm entertaining and have new friends to eat lunch with everyday. I mean I honestly do not mind eating lunch by myself but socializing and hearing stories about other people's youths, goals, and families is nice. It's funny how you have one perception abo...

Today's mantra I must push myself to accomplish what I want. I can make excuses but it's only me that I'm cheating. Don't cheat yourself. Back & Biceps

Yesterday night I waited for the rush and post-rush workout times to pass on by. I thought 10 pm should be ok... NOT There were a lot of people in both the weights and cardio section of the gym. Even the stretching area was a clusterfuck. I'm the one with the nocturnal sleep schedule, why is everyone still there? It honestly looked like there were 2-3 guys to each weight station. :( I need to write out a better routine that will let me just use the most of the exercise/cardio room, or go to the gym at an even later time. I wish I was buff, then I'd hog the weights too. My very optimistic workout plan for the night: BACKS & BICEPS 3 sets of 12 reps -Seated cable row -Wide Grip Lat pulldown -EZ bar curl -Chin ups -One arm DB row -Interval bike for 20 mins. 30 s off the seat fast, 1 min cruising Unfortunately, did not pan out so well. What I actually accomplished: -10 minutes on rowing machine at highest resistance -3 sets of Assisted Pullups, Chin ups,...

I feel old...

I haven't realized that I have not updated this blog in a few.. oops! I'm supposed to blog more often! Anyways, I've been just dancing around, you know while watching tv at home or making food. And kind of taking a break from the gym because I pushed it a little too hard couple of days ago. Hence my title, my back hurts a bit and I feel old :(. so here is my typical back workout routine at the gym: 10 minutes on the rowing machine assisted pullups 4 sets 10 back extensions 3 sets 15 (can add weights) 20 minutes HIIT jumproping with 2 lb weights in both hands It's relatively quick but works out efficiently, in my opinion :) I like to get the most 'bang for the buck' trying to make my workouts short but efficient!
