9 days left: I don't know what to tell ya, the days are passing by so fast

Since I last blogged, I have generally been pretty good with my intake of food. Recently, my friends and I also started to snapchat each other of all our meals, snacks, and indulgments to help motivate each other. The idea of not dieting alone and kind of making this a team effort, help make healthy eating more enjoyable instead of being a sacrificing task hahah. But there have been a couple of days when I had some drinks and ate not so healthy according to my diet plan. I think realistically, I'll be having close to 4 cheat days in a span of 20 days. That's 80% healthy eating hmm.. "Going up on a Tueday," and feeling like a rebel.. lol 👵👵👵 A photo posted by D e a d l i f t s🍩D o n u t s (@rawrdianasaur) on May 17, 2016 at 6:39pm PDT Oh well, for each cheat day/meal, I've had great conversations and memories making every day worthwhile & meaningful <3 You have to give permission to yourself to be nice to yourself. Then you continue along...

Let me try this again x infinity

You know how sometimes you have a goal-dream-ambition & then you let go of it for a while and forget about it? But then like an intuition the drive comes back full force to you when your soul, mind, and body  are ready for it again.. Past couple of days I've been wanting to blog again. Nothing different has changes or occurred in my days (which I am thankful for because I am very satisfied & happy with the course and pace it is going at currently). I think I want to challenge myself creatively  a little bit and do a little passion project for myself. Maybe it's the spring forward daylight saving time change & my body somehow knows the days will be longer to get more shit done! hooray Maybe it's because I've been listening to podcasts on my commutes, and it has opened up my mind to other areas of growth again and Maybe it's because spring is here now and summer is upon us again soon. Which means, summer bodies right? and this is a fitness-lifestyl...

Saturday's DTLA BBG meetup

#sweatwithLA The night before, I estimated that commute would take 40-45 mins, locating parking and walking to the meetup would take 15 mins. What I didn't account for was me snoozing the alarm and oversleeping for almost an hour. Luckily my timeline previously was to be at Grand Park by 8am; the workouts would start promptly at 8:45 am. I pick up my friend, and of course it takes us more than 10 mins to actually find parking. Then we speed-walk to the original location of the meetup, but there's another event happening, so we speed-walk to another area of the park. We made it right when they were finishing up the yoga warmup. This was my first BBG meetup and also the first time doing the workouts in a group/workout buddy setting. Although my friend and I whined occasionally: "omgg my abs are on fire; wehh; what, still 2 more mins??" It was a great experience to see so many other girls working out and pushing themselves - that truly motivated me to work hard...

Week 1

Sunday, Jan 17 Ended up cultivating mass|bulking from all the eating adventures - Not even mad 😏😏. BUT, how to not lose the boobies & booty when leaning down 😟?? #cardio#nikela#vans#iifym#bulking#operationbuildabooty#asiangirl#bbg#diet#eatforabs#kaylasarmy#fitfam#gymapparel#fitness#fitspiration#fitspo#girlsthatlift#girlswholift#healthy#selfie#instafit#kaylaitsines#liftheavy#shelifts#workout#abs#squat#stairmaster#belfie#foodie A photo posted by D e a d l i f t s🍩D o n u t s (@rawrdianasaur) on Jan 15, 2016 at 9:09am PST ok, confession : I ate so tremendously much during the past month. December is my birthday month! and also, winter is the season for bulking.. right? (I totally gained some fat in my glutes & chest area however! along with the belly, of course) Honestly, I really don't know how my appetite grew so much and my stomach was actually able to house almost all the things I saw with my hungry eyes. Pretty much, your girl ate very well, and my ...

Hello 2016

Image
Yes Yes, I am a bit late for the hello 2016 party. I've been relatively MIA from social media the past 2 weeks because I tried to stay in the present and embrace every moment spent with my manfriend & friends! While with him, I've hardly had any time to peruse through social media; I've realized how much time I have spent just browsing through instagram, fb, etc - but it's because I had so much independent time for myself. Now that I'm back from the 2 week vacation of visiting my manfriend, I want to continue not being so compulsively addicted to social media - skimming through the feeds a bit more than I'd like to admit. It was quite liberating not being on social media as often. I think I'd like to spend more time reading, listening to podcasts, and generally being better with time-management & efficiency. We'll see though! It's a work in progress and I still want to continue blogging & documenting my progress and adventures :) ...

Action Plan and Day ONE

Image
Action Plan until NYE There's about 10 days left til the new year. I just started my winter break so I finally have time to catch up on life; plan and create my own meals; and go do ALL the workouts! Feels nice to have this down time to be proactive and hopefully productive. Ideally, I'd like to exclude all carbs out my meals, but knowing me, I like to nibble on rice and definitely like to indulge in fruits and ice cream alike. So my "diet" will be mostly lowcarb-keto but I am allocating complex carbs in the morning and possibly a bit of tempting ice cream/bars only post workout. Good guidelines? Me thinketh! 12.21 - Day ONE of working out and dieting Workouts : -Fasted BBG wk1 Arms & Abs -30 mins cycling class + 10 mins stairmaster = 525 calories -Sauna stretch Diet : -black hazelnut coffee (mmm!) -greek yogurt, mint ice icream, frozen blue berries, black berries, granola, chia seeds -stir fried cabbage, onion, red cabbage & rotisserie chicken ...

3/12 til Hawaii - Monday

Image
Had to do some errands in the morning therefore I wasn't able to do fasted cardio. I woke up early, but dilly dallied around until I realized I ran out of time... hahah. So I ran out the door with an egg salad sandwich. After errands, I went to the gym since it was right there! Workout : -I did squats and went up to 135 lbs and tried to do some sets. Then I dropped back down to 95 lbs and did 6 good sets of 5-7 while doing bodyweight jump squats in between. -Next I went to the abduction machine and did 3 sets -Finally I tried out hip thrusts using the leg extension machine . (I found the picture example on google). First time attempting this workout and I really like it! Definitely felt it in my glutes, and I will be continuing to add this to my booty growing regimen. I think ladies have the most creative workout moves and adaptations. LOL you don't really see guys doing these kind of workouts or using machines in a different manner than what they were intended for. Exce...

Exactly 12 weeks til Hawaii!!

Image
Anytime is a good time to start fitness. But if not abs on the daily is inspiring enough, then Hawaii should be one of the  motivational  reasons to really dedicate & challenge myself. So I am going to restart the Kayla Itsines BBG guide and do it thoroughly. The past months I've been jumping around within the program while doing my own thing on the side. But this time around I will do each and every workout exactly how it is scheduled. LOL I took my "before" picture for the umpteenth time, but let's hope that I will be able to comfortably frolic around Hawaii with ABS :D  Time to go to Week 1's Monday: Legs & cardio!

Summer body: Week 5 - YOGA

Image
This week is definitely one of progress, or one that is more noticeable to me. It's very motivating! SO if you feel uninspired or sad that all your hard work isn't showing, just push through and continue on - working out consistently and being one step closer each time is better than quitting & regressing back to old habits. I truly think 3.5-4 weeks is the magic number . Tumblr agrees too (I used to think this was so cliche, but all cliches have a truth right) I actually didn't know about the 12 weeks part, but now that I think about, that's probably why Tony Horton's P90x is 90 days and Kayla Itsine's Bikini Body Guide is 12 weeks. It makes sense! Progress : Getting stronger by lifting is tying in extremely well with yoga practice! Forearm handstand and crow pose is coming through :) (Ludacris - Good Lovin) This is the first time I lifted my legs up against the wall. It has been one of my yoga insecurities and fear, but I was finally able to g...

Summer body: Week 5 - seeing progress!

Image
I'm going to say... progress starts to show up around week 3-4 depending on extent of workouts and of course how you eat as well. But, consistency is definitely key. This is my abs pictures from the beginning of Week 4. ABS are peeking through! And I haven't been doing much ab work, although I have increased my cardio - been adding about 10 mins of cardio after lifting sessions & also sometimes doing quick cardio bursts in between sets. Furthermore, with lifting heavy and deadlifting, I'm made some back definition! heh was surprised when I was trying to tie up my hair and noticed my back. Awesome.

Summer body: Week 3, let's work off those noodles

Image
My favorite comfort food: Jjampong & Jja jja mein Oh man, it's about 8 pm on a Friday night and I just woke up from a food coma slumber. Currently drinking coffee and tea to wake me up and to also help me digest the NOODLES I have gorged on previously. --- 2 hours later ---- Although, I ate semi-gluttonously, it has given me energy and motivation to KILL my late night Friday workout: Volume training Deadlift. 135 lbs 10x10 5 mins stairmaster + 10 mins cycling I was pretty surprised how busy the gym still was at 10 pm. I originally wanted to do volume squats but all the racks were taken. rack rack city. Edit: here's a clip of me doing one set of deadlifts

Sexy Saturday

Image
hehe last night I had some .. ok 2 bowls of frosted strawberry mini wheats. mmph so good. but I don't think I'll let myself do that again especially for a midnight snack. This morning my stomach was quick to respond to the consequences :/ As a result, today I have been strict and on point with my low carb macros and drinking lots of water. This is the workout I partially did while dancing/jumping/pushup-ing. Today was exceptionally hard to do fasted cardio I think because my body felt bloated and lethargic from yesterday's eating. Even black coffee wasn't really effective and I almost contemplated trying out the cellucor super HD pill. Now that I think about it, I should've popped one today for a test run and see how it affects my body.. Tomorrow I shall. Anyways, I still trudged through the fasted workout with some sexy Satuday music ;) { Pacsun :  Kirra  bird dress// Hollister denim shirt} I'm kind of doing my own Pacsun challenge and seeing how...

day 18: Fasted dancing/insanity

Image
okk, little confession, I didn't work out yesterday because I told myself I would sprint in the evening after work.. But, the sun keeps setting earlier and earlier and well my mind and body thinks I should get ready for bed soon Z.z haha. At least I got a lot of studying done instead I either need to make my willpower stronger or move my sprinting schedule to earlier. Knowing myself completely, I will have to do HIIT/sprints earlier. One advantage of not having the gym for lifting seshes is that I am more strict on my low carb/keto diet. Before I'd say ohh I can burn off the ice cream or this slice of pizza or eat my burgers with buns since I'll make today a squat/deadlift day. But now I'm really trying to limit carbs to about 50g or less a day. I don't think I burn nearly as many calories doing cardio as I did when I lifted. But it's A-OK. I still eat well :) Example: this steak fajitas wrapped in lettuce because I was craving tacos and burritos. And...

Low Carb & Keto ideas

Image
Halloween is in two weeks. Time to hone in diet and I know keto works the fastest for me. Wish me luck :( carbs taste even better when you restrict them *Breakfast option: fruits (I am not going to take fruits out of my diet, instead I will allot myself to have them in the morning) and/or protein shake -nuts -hardboiled egg -peanut butter Avocado, egg toast Chili cucumber noodles Wedge salads Cucumber roll ups Baked parmesan zucchini Cucumber chicken salad sub wrap omelet wrap Low carb sausage bake Bean sprout "noodles" SNACK: Blue diamond almonds. smokehouse flavor is my favoriteee This is such an awesome alternative to chips, albeit it is a bit salty. However I need some flavoring in my life since I kind of eat my food on the bland side. Sometimes I feel like I don't get enough electrolytes, namely sodium, in my diet. But then of course when you eat packaged food (like even sandwich meats) ...

Day 9: I want to be a badass

Image
Been watching  Chuck  and seeing the female protagonist, Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski) do killer moves and kick ass with hand to hand combat. All of a sudden I want to learn martial arts and become a certified BADASS.   I think it would also be awesome to have the skill to use a stick, pole, katana, sword. >:) So, I am adding become a badass  into my goals. Pretty excited! Day 9 (Saturday) I woke up well-rested and decided I didn't want coffee! On days I feel a natural motivation I try to stray away from unnecessary caffeine. I heard caffeine addiction and withdrawals are not so cool. Anyways Saturday was supposed to be a SQUAT day but this day I realized it really means = do every other workout while waiting for the squat rack . I had a great workout sesh however: -wide grip lat pulldowns -close grip lat pulldowns -deadlifts -then finally some squats.  Unfortunally by the time I went to the squat rack I was a bit tired, understa...

unplanned rest day..

Image
So today my daily routine has been all screwed up. Essentially what this meme is. And I know how I started my day off 'incorrectly'. Woke up refreshed and ready to workout. I had my lemon, cayenne tea but decided not to make any coffee since I really don't want to develop a caffeine-necessity. Tried to log onto netflix but internet was too laggy to even connect to a page :(. Then I realize how dependent I am of internet/streaming tv and also realized I am not interested in doing Insanity if I am not able to watch tv.. # firstworldproblems Decided to just make a nice sandwich and soon after started reading on my bed and eventually took a nap. Woke up groggy and grumpy. Drove to work grumpy and contact lens drying up on eyeballs. Day dreamt about coffee for the next three hours. Went to Mcds to get a black coffee for a pickmeup. Had dinner with family.. started watching an episode of Chuck . And couldn't find the elusive motivation to go to gym and do my dam...

Day2: insanity cardio power & resistance + back/biceps

Image
Fasted cardio : Insanity cardio power & resistance + CHUCK (tv show). definitely need workout music next time and then evening Back/Biceps workout -assisted pullups, chinups, dips -shoulder pressdown -tricep pushdown -squatted back rows -close grip lat pulldown -135 lb deadlifts wooo Oh man so today at the gym I saw a girl putting on makeup with fake lashes and doing her hair. So I assumed she was done gymming for the day. But while lifting weights I see her strutting through the weights area to the yoga class all dolled up with a super cropped shirt and low, tight yoga pants. dang girlll, you do your thing! Tomorrow's cardio: I plan to try @Bskyfitness stairmaster HIIT routine. I'm usually doing steady-state stairmaster at around level 9-10 so I hope this routine is effective :D

IIFYM hot cheeto stains

You know you're doing IIFYM right when you realize your pointer finger and thumb are stained red from hot cheetos while you are paying for the low-carb Carl's Junior burger. HE HE HE So last week I tried macro counting/percentages/IIFYM for the first time and I think my body is liking it. However, at times I did indulge in junkfood (ie: ice cream, beer, chips, etc) and I am going to attempt to do macros the 'clean' way this week to see if results are faster. Also, I have realized that if I eat junkfood, it leaves less room for other meals thus I am a little hungry too (even though I eat 1500-1600 calories) We shall see! Experimenting :) Anyways, it is fasted cardio time this wonderful, gloomy Monday morning which I am hoping means rain shall fall upon southern California! Fasted jump roping time! but usually what i mean by that is shuffling, dancing, hip thrusts, belly dancing, booty popping, unce unce-ing while having either Insanity or Grey's Anatomy play...

Curls for the Girls

Image
I've kind of been obsessed with wanting a nice, cut back.. in addition to trying to grow my glutes and shedding stubborn belly fat while trying not to lose my God-given nicer mounds of fat above. I want so many things T_T. Does that make me a motivated, goal-oriented, go-getter? Yes yes, let's just say that instead of labeling me as someone who isn't satisfied. So, I started doing the Macros,IIFYM, Flexible dieting thing. hahah hype?? I'm not sure, but so far my body is going well with this uncertain flow. I've also been eating 1500+ calories when before I would unintentionally be eating below 1200, sometimes even eating at around 1000 (unintentional! I've just been eating 'clean food' that were not caloric-dense therefore I was always full). Now I have more carbs in my diet and I'm loving it! Anyways today's workout for Back and Biceps (did it in fasted condition): assisted pullups, chinups, dips one arm lat pulldowns closegrip la...

30 days of working out

First Day of JULY Today when I realized today was the first day of a new month, I told myself I could do 30 days of workouts.. dang it I didn’t work out today, but I realized there’s 31 days in July! Mustt work out tmw and not let myself skip a day I’ve been so busy, but I’m going to try posting what I eat (mostly low carb and keto diet and some moderation) and what workouts I do (strength and cardio) Day 1 (I actually didn't post) Had an exam for my online course but walked on the treadmill for fasted cardio while reading my notes. My favorite way to review notes. I feel like walking helps your mind be more awake, but maybe that's just my logic. Actually I feel really guiltless when I get to watch Netflix while on the treadmill :D I mean I'm being productive! Day 2 an hour to kill Today I had a little more than an hour to kill after an exam and before lab. My new friend asked me if I wanted to check out a taco place near campus, but today I was motivated to fit in a cardi...
