Thursday THANKSGIVING & Friday - 14 days left!

Image
UH noz I only have 2 weeks left for my attempt to get abs, but then I also have only 2 weeks until I get to see my love! Indulging in Thanksgiving feasting may have set my progress back but Idunncare! There's more of me to be thankful for :D Thanksgiving  thursday Lots to be thankful and grateful for but still inspired and even more motivated to strive to be my very best. I'm so thankful for my family, for all the sacrifices and love and selflessness that I still have much to learn. And coming upon  Dwayne the Rock Johnson 's post this morning was so humbling and encouraging. It was a great reminder for me to reinforce my aspirations. For Thanksgiving we picked up turkey and ham from Honeybaked and made the side dishes ourselves. We're a small family without any extended relatives to celebrate with so we do Thanksgiving without any frills and thrills. It's quite simple  compared to many other familys' traditions but we still value the namesake of Thanksgiv...

Saturday & Sunday - 19 days left

Image
Saturday On this day I decided to try out Cellucor Super HD . haah why not, I wasn't planning to go anywhere. I don't know how to describe the effects of preworkouts. Do I say the "come up" was kind of sudden? Or the energy "hit" me a bit intensely in the beginning? haha I'm just kidding. It did make me jittery and a little sick in the beginning. Also made my heart beat faster or maybe some anxiety kicked in. Soon enough however it tapered off and I had a decent cardio session. I think it definitely gave me some energy but was not very long lasting as I had anticipated. I did notice that my hunger and appetite was suppressed for a while (I was mildly starving when I woke up in the morning) but hey, this girl's appetite is never really gone :). I ate fine after my fasted workout. Hehe, I think I have 2 abs that are trying to pop out.. but they're a bit fatty. I'll take it though, progress is still progress ^_^. On this Saturday I also f...

Tuesday - 24 days left

Image
On Monday I did ab tucks and ab pikes with the stability ball and crunches while waiting for dinner. I was still a bit sore from Kayla Itsines's workout and had a test to study for as well therefore no workout. And on Tuesdays I don't wake up early enough to do fasted cardio, so before lunch I did 35 minutes of jumping rope. :) Kind of had relatively lazy days the past two days, but back on Kayla's workout tmw! Can't wait to kill the workout! { Pacsun : Kirra black dress// Bullhead black jean vest} For some reason when I see people running around on bike paths and around the neighborhood, I think it's such a great sight. Maybe it's because seeing that makes me motivated as well? I'm not sure. Or the fact that there are a good number of people who jog around with their family and/or friends or even by themselves. I've tried to convince my family to take evening strolls with me, but ever since Daylight Savings, it's become much too dark once...

Day 16: cardio dancing

Image
I don't really know how to explain what my workout was this morning.. I put  Insanity and Despicable Me  in the background then put in my earphones to an EDM station. For the span of one Insanity workout I basically shuffled-danced around, gyrated, booty-popped (or as much as I could with my baby cakes) and did jumping jacks and jump ropes and high knees in between. SO. MUCH. FUN. I think the best explanation I could give is possibly a hype girl or go-go dancer at a rave + mesh of work out moves?.... hmmm but not that sexy, but just as energetic. I swear dancing is good for your abs :) interestingly, I am currently watching some go-go videos on youtube for some inspiration & moves. hahah xD :) Rawr, Dianasaur

Day 4: Insanity Pure Cardio + P90x Ab ripper X

Image
This is my morning ritual nowadays (wait, but the Chai tea is a new development). the orange-y drink on the right is the cayenne pepper +lemon + cinnamon drink, right in back of it is the fresh black coffee using my Teavana perfect tea maker  because my Bodum  coffee press has been long-shattered :( and then the Chai tea! mmm lots of liquids to jumpstart my body. Then off to Insanity while watching Once Upon a Time and then P90x Ab Ripperx

Day 1: insanity plyo + 3 mile stairmaster

October is almost upon us! that means Halloween and scantily clad costumes? just keeding. However, just in case I have an outfit that bares the bellay... I am incorporating more cardio cardio.. *shudder* anyways 5 implementations for the next month: 1. CARDIO Well, today's plan was to ease back into cardio but I think I made a grand entrance. Did all out bawls out  fasted insanity plyo  while watching Once Upon a Time and playing a workout playlist on Spotify. 2. IIFYM/Low CARB less than 100 g of carbs daily and most of the carbs will be eaten for breakfast/lunch. iifym ratio 30c 40 p 30f 3. spice up my life Cayenne pepper + lemon water Turmeric powder + juiced apples and oranges 4. continue on with strength training because I love it more than cardio Plus it will make my metabolism faster and torch fat more quickly? :) Cardio + Weights = BAM BAM double whammy I better have abs for the first time in my life Oh speaking of abs. I came upon an " ab calcu...

What I didn't do yesterday, is made up for today

Image
Monday : lackluster fasted cardio Gym ("legs") -box jumps super set with lunges and split squats -box jumps super set with jump roping in place -box jumps super set with squat jumps -abductor machine -sauna I am very weak in lunges, it is so difficult for me. I think it may be a balance/core thing or maybe my right side is more dominant and my left. Therefore I do body weight lunges for now which still make me quite sore the next day. Lunges is an area I can improve on. So yesterday was like a cardio day because all the booty growing machines/racks that I needed were taken and I didn't have time to wait around. Anticipating a rigorous workout, I made yesterday a high carb day too (50 C, 25 P, 25 F).. oops don't think I worked out hard enough for that. (Keep in mind that I am trying IIFYM for the first time so I am really just experimenting with my body and fitness right now.) Tuesday: Today's battle plan. Have to make up for yesterday's -...

IIFYM hot cheeto stains

You know you're doing IIFYM right when you realize your pointer finger and thumb are stained red from hot cheetos while you are paying for the low-carb Carl's Junior burger. HE HE HE So last week I tried macro counting/percentages/IIFYM for the first time and I think my body is liking it. However, at times I did indulge in junkfood (ie: ice cream, beer, chips, etc) and I am going to attempt to do macros the 'clean' way this week to see if results are faster. Also, I have realized that if I eat junkfood, it leaves less room for other meals thus I am a little hungry too (even though I eat 1500-1600 calories) We shall see! Experimenting :) Anyways, it is fasted cardio time this wonderful, gloomy Monday morning which I am hoping means rain shall fall upon southern California! Fasted jump roping time! but usually what i mean by that is shuffling, dancing, hip thrusts, belly dancing, booty popping, unce unce-ing while having either Insanity or Grey's Anatomy play...

Curls for the Girls

Image
I've kind of been obsessed with wanting a nice, cut back.. in addition to trying to grow my glutes and shedding stubborn belly fat while trying not to lose my God-given nicer mounds of fat above. I want so many things T_T. Does that make me a motivated, goal-oriented, go-getter? Yes yes, let's just say that instead of labeling me as someone who isn't satisfied. So, I started doing the Macros,IIFYM, Flexible dieting thing. hahah hype?? I'm not sure, but so far my body is going well with this uncertain flow. I've also been eating 1500+ calories when before I would unintentionally be eating below 1200, sometimes even eating at around 1000 (unintentional! I've just been eating 'clean food' that were not caloric-dense therefore I was always full). Now I have more carbs in my diet and I'm loving it! Anyways today's workout for Back and Biceps (did it in fasted condition): assisted pullups, chinups, dips one arm lat pulldowns closegrip la...

Dance Aerobics on Treadmill at Palheiro Spa, Madeira

Image
I forgot why I looked this up on youtube, but I realized since the treadmill at home works, I can totally do this while listening to unce unce electro music

August process

Image
Ive realized I never posted a progress pic of what I have accomplished the last few weeks of september and beginning of August. Before OSL/Beginning of August : Workout: Lots of fasted cardio, sauna, and lifting Diet: Mostly keto/low carb diet Mid august (the first 2 weeks of August):  Workout: HIIT sprints and pushups, Cycling 14 miles American river bike trail (Sacramento), PR at deadlifint 225 lbs, plenty of ab wheels Diet: eating late nights, drunk munchies... mostly protein and veggies on weekdays, low carb burgers, carne asada and BBQ, ice creams at night, some beers, some alcohol, pizzas on weekend, and 2x buffet = I ate so well! I guess ab wheels and hiit sprints were my saving grace.. hehe. Totally worth all that food grubbing.

Fasted Cardio HIIT

Image
Oh.. my love- HATE relationship with cardio always gets the better of me :( However today is MONDAY and I must make an example of this week! I originally planned to do uphill sprints on a hill, however even though I had the right mindset, my heart was not ready. haha So I made a small compromise and did:  HIIT 10 cycles of 30 sec all out balls out mountain climbers + 5 pushups , then rest Very convenient. Takes very little space and is perfect for when you are short on time but need a cardio BOOST <3

Trx for back and chest!

Image
10 Best TRX Exercises: Total Body Suspension Training Circuit I'm going to try the  -Chest Press -3 way Row -Bicep Curls -Y Fly and.. -power pull?.... haha or I'll attempt it. It looks level difficult for me. 45 TRX exercises  I came upon this great Greatist article of different TRX moves with links to youtube videos and demonstrations. *thumbs up*

90% vs 10%

Image
This is my current progress. I've been lifting, doing fasted cardio, and also suana-ing. But after my lift sessions I would eat such things as poptarts, chips, donuts, pizzas, ice cream bars... I'm pretty sure this is why my progress isn't as effective as it should be. I've decided to quit my literal post workout blackhole meals for the next 1.5 weeks cause next weekend is fricking Outside Lands! Ahhh :D Oh and my friend told me since 90% of diet is how we get abs.. in a way that means 10% can be cheat meals. 10% of 30 days is only 3 days of cheat meals a month. Doesn't this logic make sense? hahha it opened up my mind! Anyways. Push strong dears! There's a way when there's a will. And I want to see what I can achieve .

Soybean Milk Protein smoothie

Image
This is what I drank after my Leg workout. The day before my mom boiled soybeans and then we put them in the blender and gave them a whirl. (we had Korean Kong Guk Su - Soybean cold noodles) So with some of the leftover soybean milk mixture I decided to incorporate into a smoothie. +frozen blueberries +fresh squeezed orange juice +strawberries +chia seeds I'm trying to add chia seeds to my daily routine because for nutrition-wise, they contain a lot of fat and protein and not much carbs. Also for that reason they also can help curb hunger. This would be useful in a keto/low carb diet since there's not much carbs (in your diet) to keep you full longer. :)

Delicious banana+honey & Thai Chicken kale salad

Image
For brunch I sliced a banana, added fresh blueberries, threw in some walnuts, sprinkled cinnamon, and drizzled on honey. THIS BE BANANAS. PARTY IN MY MOUTH. It's so gratifyingly delicious. I also splashed some milk to eat it kind of like a cereal. I believe this is my current breakfast obsession.  For dinner I had the inspiration from  http://pinchofyum.com/chopped-thai-chicken-salad I just sliced the chicken however instead of shredding it. And I used kale since I didn't have cabbage. Also made some changes to the salad dressing by adding a sweet chili thai sauce to the mix, didn't realize the peanut butter was finished. It was a winner with the family :) However... I didn't go workout today T_T just stretching and yoga. So I also planned out my week of workouts and pledged to not miss any.

Sunday: weekly diet planning day?

Image
haha wow today I spent quite a bit of time on Pinterest organizing my old likes and boards. It's one of those sites that really suck up your time because you invested so many things you want to save for a future project or for your future in general. But the one disadvantage is that I've collected so many things that I pinned to look at later, which I have forgotten. I want to kind of get into a habit of looking back at them (while not wasting too much time) and bringing them out into action. Monday Breakfast: Banana, cinnamon, honey Lunch: Chopped Thai chicken salad   http://pinchofyum.com/chopped-thai-chicken-salad Dinner: Chicken, egg, cranberries, apples, nuts, onions, greek yogurt salad eat with veggies Tuesday Breakfast: Omelette wrap omelette wrap Lunch: salmon with yu choy inspirations.. Dinner: Cucumber salad with greek yogurt, tomato, avocado, salt, black pepper. Add chicken or tuna Wednesday Breakfast: blueberry chia ...

Recording myself

Image
I've been fooling around with the idea of recording myself while working out (after I saw some youtubers record themselves doing insanity). Why? Because when you record yourself, for some reason it makes you more accountable and want to go all out in each movie. haha I workout by myself.. so in a way my sad phone/camera and I are kind of like workout partners. Also... this is basically my first time ever editing a video clip. It's not too bad right? hahah 1 round of Tabata is 8 cycles of 20s cardio + 10 s rest (I omitted the resting parts from the video) Int 1: Burpees Int 2: Mummy Kicks Int 3: Jump rope Int 4: Jumping jacks Int 5: Butt Kicks Int 6: Squat Jumps Int 7: High Knees Int 8: Dips I don't get feedback so I'm not sure if I should keep the 10s rests in the video. Well now that I think about it, it would've made sense to include the 10 s rests so that if anyone decides to workout with me, it'd be in real time.. should've thought of t...

Tabata Workout

Tabata 1 round Custom Timer Create your own interval timer or download our interval timer app So, I think Tabata is high intensity interval training. I like it because it's quick spurts of energy expenditure. And you go at your own pace, the fastest and most intense you can push yourself. So 1 round is 8 intervals of 20s (workouts) + 10 s (rest) = 4mins Apparently 4 minutes is enough of a workout, however I like to do 4 rounds total = 16 mins! I'm trying to graduate that to at least 5 rounds next time :) Push Push Push Here's a list of cardio workouts you can alternate. You can also just stick with one workout (ie: sprint all out bawls out for 20 s and rest 10 s then repeat) sprint jumprope burpees mountain climbers plank to pushup pushups pushup jacks dips jumping jacks squat jumps butt kicks high knees
