Break the Block - Thank you Tahoe House

I suppose the writer's block has finally been chipped down just a little. I'm ready to be inspired and motivated again. Maybe also eager to revolutionalize myself and continue to make a path for where I want to see myself in the future. It's a path for one, and I am embracing this independence of going with the flow revolving only around me and wherever I may want to explore. Most importantly, it's me truly finding my own happiness and self-confidence once again while strengthening my bonds with my family & close friends. I am loving 2017 so much. Before.. this blog was a timid, inhibited, superficial journaling of my workouts, diets, and adventures. I think I still may be timid and superficial (as in I may not scratch beyond the surface), but this time I will try to leave more lasting impressions and thoughts. Hello intermittent blogging :) This semester has been extremely busy, but the hardest part has passed for me. I finally have time to take a sigh of relief and work on other aspects on my life I would like to grow in. I know I say this all the time, every year.. but heh, let's try to get some abs for my NYE birthday this year? I think blogging and documenting what I meal prep and what workouts I have accomplished will help me better stay accountable. So, this may not be the most interesting content, but welcome to real life that's busy with a healthy lifestyle! =) Workout today: stairmaster, box jumps HIIT, tire flips HIIT. + sauna Rotisserie chicken egg salad : chopped up apple, celery, onion, cucumber, and rotisserie chicken. Added in walnuts and dried cranberries. Sprinkled garlic powder and black pepper, then coated with greek yogurt. :p delish

9 days left: I don't know what to tell ya, the days are passing by so fast

Since I last blogged, I have generally been pretty good with my intake of food. Recently, my friends and I also started to snapchat each other of all our meals, snacks, and indulgments to help motivate each other. The idea of not dieting alone and kind of making this a team effort, help make healthy eating more enjoyable instead of being a sacrificing task hahah. But there have been a couple of days when I had some drinks and ate not so healthy according to my diet plan. I think realistically, I'll be having close to 4 cheat days in a span of 20 days. That's 80% healthy eating hmm.. 20 days left: Happy Mother's Day!

Well, every day is Mother's day , so I hope you remember to treat your mamas (& papas) with respect and love everyday!! Treat them to something delicious or better yet, make them a meal filled with so much love and thought. And instead of making up excuses and complaining, go with an open heart to answer their favors and help with errands. Our parents do so much for us. I only hope that with each day, we try to comprehend all their sacrifices, passion, and devotion to our families. What you know about meal prep Sunday?? With that said, this Sunday (Mother's Day 2016!) I had marked to be the day that I start dieting more wholesome and low carb !  So... my goal is to have 3 or less "cheat days" in the next 20 days. Oh man, it's going to be kind of hard to have low carb snacks ready on hand. EASY PEASY, no extra fluff, PROTEIN waffles!

For some reason I was craving waffles today, but I've also decided I want to eat more wholesome & also less carbs (mostly from bread, sugar, rice however). Therefore, I decided to look up Protein frickin waffles! I noticed there were more "easy" ingredients for protein pancakes, whereas, for waffles there were "more" ingredients. Well.. I guess I'll try to experiment today and if it's a fail, I shall be eating chocalate-y egg scramble. Intriguing Luckily for me, today's attempt was a success! Here's another 3-ingredient no-fluff recipe :D . EASY PEASY 30 g whey protein (or like 1 scoop) 1 egg 1/4 cup water Since I didn't add baking powder, the waffles didn't rise but I'm totally ok with that. I've tried it before but only with banana + eggs.. it didn't really come out very well and that day I had scrambled eggs that tasted like bananas. It was slightly off-putting. So today I tried to find a 3-ingredient recipe with oatmeal flour in it. And eventually came with this successful find :D ( Recipe link ) I think having the oatmeal flour helps add texture and a bit of dryness to make cooking these bad babes a lot easier. Although... I still had almost half my batter turn into pancake scramble. HAha! practice makes perfect however. I'm gonna stick with this recipe as long as I have ripe bananas Anddd, it's Sunday! Saturday's DTLA BBG meetup

#sweatwithLA The night before, I estimated that commute would take 40-45 mins, locating parking and walking to the meetup would take 15 mins. What I didn't account for was me snoozing the alarm and oversleeping for almost an hour. Luckily my timeline previously was to be at Grand Park by 8am; the workouts would start promptly at 8:45 am. I pick up my friend, and of course it takes us more than 10 mins to actually find parking. Then we speed-walk to the original location of the meetup, but there's another event happening, so we speed-walk to another area of the park. We made it right when they were finishing up the yoga warmup. This was my first BBG meetup and also the first time doing the workouts in a group/workout buddy setting. Although my friend and I whined occasionally: "omgg my abs are on fire; wehh; what, still 2 more mins??" It was a great experience to see so many other girls working out and pushing themselves - that truly motivated me to work hard...

Action Plan and Day ONE

Action Plan until NYE There's about 10 days left til the new year. I just started my winter break so I finally have time to catch up on life; plan and create my own meals; and go do ALL the workouts! Feels nice to have this down time to be proactive and hopefully productive. Ideally, I'd like to exclude all carbs out my meals, but knowing me, I like to nibble on rice and definitely like to indulge in fruits and ice cream alike. So my "diet" will be mostly lowcarb-keto but I am allocating complex carbs in the morning and possibly a bit of tempting ice cream/bars only post workout. Good guidelines? The hour passed by so quickly, and just working out in a group environment motivated me to push strong throughout the whole workout. Amazeballs :D I will most definitely continue to attend the NTC classes, and as a matter of fact, I'm going to do most of my cardio seshes by gym classes. Today has proven to me that working out in a class setting encourages and uplifts me more than working out by myself. But weightlifting is a different story. I can push myself and encourage myself to be stronger and finish YO sets .

Ok! so I've been pretty stellar about my diet . The only thing processed I've been consuming is wheat bread, oatmeal, and protein powder. And absolutely no junk food eaten so far! haha I think when I was trying out IIFYM , I gave myself the liberty to eat some junk food saying, ahh all carbs are the same. But I think my body does appreciate more natural carbs from fruits instead. Regardless, it does make me feel fresher and filled more with vitality when I eat sources straight from the earth. Also! My current morning caffeine fix is the cold brewed black coffee!  I'm liking the convenience of not having to wait for water to boil, and the sweeter notes of the coffee as well. :)) Plus it's quite nice to sip on a cold coffee on a sunny day Sun Ended May with an awesome Squat Sunday and Legs session. Sorry guys! I'm not sure how the week passed me by so quickly? It's funny how I've been waking up early and sleeping at a decent hour too. And I think I was quite productive each day, but still didn't give myself enough time and motivation to blog. I think I've been just kind of in a blogging rut - But I promise I worked out! hmmm, if workout is not blogged or documented, was there really a workout? haha jk Wait. I also think I had another culprit - LOL Youtube vids . Lately I've been obsessing over youtubers' apartment tours and morning routines. HAa.. I'm such a "voyeur." Youtube videos have given me other forms of motivation and inspiration, although it does create a lot of wants as well. (well, that's why there's so many ads and product placement right? exactly) Anyways, What I've learned this week : 1) Planning out meals in advance is definitely helpful. 3/12 - ending the weekend

Daycation in San Diego with my loves Did so much in one day: checked out a swap meet, grabbed Phil's BBQ , picniced at the beach, walked around and digested while window shopping, drank PB stout, ate thai food and then walked to Omnia  to dance away some calories. My goodness, at the beach, the seagulls were hawking around ready to steal our foods, bags, purses, jackets! It was both funny and quite alarming to see a seagull stealthily sneak up behind you. Those beaks look like they can do some damage and gouge some eyes out... creeepy. Such predators! 3lau was DJing that night and I had no idea until I saw the screen BLAU omergard. The gods be good! HAHA jk, my friend joked around about the key phrases in Game of Thrones that no one would really use IRL, in our world. Lulz wouldn't that be hilarious. Ribs was a great idea. Picnic was a great idea. Sweater weather turned to sunny was not so great.

3/12 til Hawaii - Thursday & Friday

Thursday AM workout : Fasted cardio 30:30 jumproping for about 12 minutes PM workout : Deadlift, back workout then 10 min cycle and sauna Friday I'm convinced bacon brings all the boys to the yard ;). So if you want to impress a dude, I suggest bacon weaves! lol, but this was my answer to my laziness and apprehension to frying bacon and having oil splatter everywhere. Bacon weave was the convenient answer for me to bake a bunch at a time whilst making it look "aesthetic" :) Once again, I've decided I'm going to do keto/low carb diet because lately I've been eating carbs too liberally (my iifym percentage for carbs is a bit high for me personally). I know my body is sensitive to carbs even though I'd like to pretend my metabolism is better that that. Guess I have to train my body :( and incorporate more carbs into my diet gradually. I will also be trying to eat most of my carbs in the morning and eat more naturally as well. Bacon weave, fried ...

3/12 til Hawaii - Monday

Had to do some errands in the morning therefore I wasn't able to do fasted cardio. I woke up early, but dilly dallied around until I realized I ran out of time... hahah. So I ran out the door with an egg salad sandwich. After errands, I went to the gym since it was right there! Workout : -I did squats and went up to 135 lbs and tried to do some sets. Then I dropped back down to 95 lbs and did 6 good sets of 5-7 while doing bodyweight jump squats in between. -Next I went to the abduction machine and did 3 sets -Finally I tried out hip thrusts using the leg extension machine . (I found the picture example on google). First time attempting this workout and I really like it! Definitely felt it in my glutes, and I will be continuing to add this to my booty growing regimen. I think ladies have the most creative workout moves and adaptations. LOL you don't really see guys doing these kind of workouts or using machines in a different manner than what they were intended for. Exce...

Why yes, I do love Abs & BBQ still sore from squats & deadlifts! Not really complaining, since it means my muscles are growing :) Fasted AM workout : attempted to do week 3 BBG LEGS. did some jump squats and burpees, but eventually just ended up doing jumping jacks and jumproping while watching The Neighbors hahah! zemmm Zac Efron and his body that "is like a giant arrow that points to his dick" LMAO umm, other than the morning workout, I have been generally lazy and did work on my desk all day. Food-wise, I tried to not eat anything processed today. I also ate fruits after eating pork belly for lunch because I was still a little hungry - definitely helped satiate me. yahh nothing exciting or noteworthy today. LOL talking about fruits right hahah

2/12 til Hawaii - Monday to Thursday

Hurro, Jury Duty 2nd day at court, brought charger and listened to podcasts and snacked during recesses This week has been both fast and slow. I had jury duty for the first time and got selected to be a juror. I came with no expectations and left with respect, empathy, and insight. I've noticed how some people are so selfish and indifferent (those that were dismissed from jury selection), but also others who are moral and hold our laws to a high principle. As Americans, we really need to be grateful that we have the right to a trial and that 12 strangers spend X amount of hours and days to listen without bias and to be vigilant in upholding the laws. On the Go Diet In other news though.. wow so many breaks and recesses and long lunch hours. From Monday to Wednesday I was at the courthouse from 9am to 330 pm. 1/12 til Hawaii - Wednesday

Week 1 Wednesday haha I had a sinful coffee shake from Mcdonalds in the morning, but my body decided to be a bit lactose intolerant. lol! so morning gym was delayed for a little bit -_- I was finally able to go to the gym and did 12 minutes of sprinting HIIT  on the treadmill then 8 mins of cycling & cool down. Throughout the day, I ate relatively clean and low carb,  until I came back from work and saw a bag of kettle chips in the kitchen....my gawd, my weakness. cheeeps haha 86 days I am editing this Thursday morning and I am incredibly sore from the squats done Tuesday evening. And NOT as bloated this morning as I thought I'd be hehe (from the chip gorge 'party'). I also think I must've hurt my left knee from sprinting, because when I squat down and try to get up, it feels so fragile and unstable! ahhh I hope it's something that can be healed naturally by my awesome body. Going to foam roll the shit out of my legs and try to increase blood flow. F...

1/12 til Hawaii - Tuesday

Week 1 - Tuesday Nothing really extraordinary this day. well except that I totally killed it at the gym. Again :) In the morning, I originally wanted to go do HIIT sprints on the treadmill. but I just did not have the willpower so I ended up doing Kayla Itsines BBG - Arms & Abs . oh gawd my two most un-favorite body parts to workout *cry face* hahaha this picture made me laugh today I had a busy day at work and also someone sprayed the room with too much air freshener so my head was hurting. I was just too temperamental to want to deal with waiting for machines and racks so I headed straight home afterwards, and happily conversed with family during dinner. LOL this reminds me of Sims when their mood levels get higher when they interact with their friends and family.
