9 days left: I don't know what to tell ya, the days are passing by so fast

Since I last blogged, I have generally been pretty good with my intake of food. Recently, my friends and I also started to snapchat each other of all our meals, snacks, and indulgments to help motivate each other. The idea of not dieting alone and kind of making this a team effort, help make healthy eating more enjoyable instead of being a sacrificing task hahah. But there have been a couple of days when I had some drinks and ate not so healthy according to my diet plan. I think realistically, I'll be having close to 4 cheat days in a span of 20 days. That's 80% healthy eating hmm.. "Going up on a Tueday," and feeling like a rebel.. lol 👵👵👵 A photo posted by D e a d l i f t s🍩D o n u t s (@rawrdianasaur) on May 17, 2016 at 6:39pm PDT Oh well, for each cheat day/meal, I've had great conversations and memories making every day worthwhile & meaningful <3 You have to give permission to yourself to be nice to yourself. Then you continue along...

20 days left: Happy Mother's Day!

Image
Well, every day is Mother's day , so I hope you remember to treat your mamas (& papas) with respect and love everyday!! Treat them to something delicious or better yet, make them a meal filled with so much love and thought. And instead of making up excuses and complaining, go with an open heart to answer their favors and help with errands. Our parents do so much for us. I only hope that with each day, we try to comprehend all their sacrifices, passion, and devotion to our families. What you know about meal prep Sunday?? With that said, this Sunday (Mother's Day 2016!) I had marked to be the day that I start dieting more wholesome and low carb !  So... my goal is to have 3 or less "cheat days" in the next 20 days. Oh man, it's going to be kind of hard to have low carb snacks ready on hand. But these are some quick bites I consider easy and convenient to make: hard-boiled eggs nuts, fruits protein waffle/pancake greek yogurt ham and cheese rol...

A photo posted by D e a d l i f t s🍩D o n u t s (@rawrdianasaur) on Apr 24, 2016 at 9:58am PDT I saw a super ripe banana on the counter, so I'm glad the little light bulb went off and I thought about Banana pancakes! I've tried it before but only with banana + eggs.. it didn't really come out very well and that day I had scrambled eggs that tasted like bananas. It was slightly off-putting. So today I tried to find a 3-ingredient recipe with oatmeal flour in it. And eventually came with this successful find :D ( Recipe link ) I think having the oatmeal flour helps add texture and a bit of dryness to make cooking these bad babes a lot easier. Although... I still had almost half my batter turn into pancake scramble. HAha! practice makes perfect however. I'm gonna stick with this recipe as long as I have ripe bananas Anddd, it's Sunday! I'm planning to get a workout sesh in today. Debating if I want to do another leg day or BBG. hmm hmm decisio...

because who doesn't want to do less cardio?

Image
These days I've been catching up on youtube videos while on the dreadmill or stair- soul- master . They make the time go by a bit faster while being informative, inspiring, and entertaining. Most of the youtube vlogs end up averaging around 10 mins, and that's enough time for me and my post-lifting cardio sesh (please, don't sign me up for cardio) In the is video Jen Heward does HIIT cardio 1 mins each, do cycle 3x jump rope air squats plie squat jumps mountain climbers (knees to opposite elbow) walking lunges (30 lunges each leg) reverse crunch leg lifts I'm going to attempt to try these in the morning before I head out... but we'll see! She was so sweaty and out of breath afterwards hahah. I can't be tooo tired before I even start my day :P

4/12 til Hawaii - Oh. My.

Image
Sorry guys! I'm not sure how the week passed me by so quickly? It's funny how I've been waking up early and sleeping at a decent hour too. And I think I was quite productive each day, but still didn't give myself enough time and motivation to blog. I think I've been just kind of in a blogging rut - But I promise I worked out! hmmm, if workout is not blogged or documented, was there really a workout? haha jk Wait. I also think I had another culprit - LOL Youtube vids . Lately I've been obsessing over youtubers' apartment tours and morning routines. HAa.. I'm such a "voyeur." Youtube videos have given me other forms of motivation and inspiration, although it does create a lot of wants as well. (well, that's why there's so many ads and product placement right? exactly) Anyways, What I've learned this week : 1) Planning out meals in advance is definitely helpful. I do have to tweak couple times, but having a set plan helped preven...

3/12 til Hawaii - Sunday

Image
Why yes, I do love Abs & BBQ still sore from squats & deadlifts! Not really complaining, since it means my muscles are growing :) Fasted AM workout : attempted to do week 3 BBG LEGS. did some jump squats and burpees, but eventually just ended up doing jumping jacks and jumproping while watching The Neighbors hahah! zemmm Zac Efron and his body that "is like a giant arrow that points to his dick" LMAO umm, other than the morning workout, I have been generally lazy and did work on my desk all day. Food-wise, I tried to not eat anything processed today. I also ate fruits after eating pork belly for lunch because I was still a little hungry - definitely helped satiate me. yahh nothing exciting or noteworthy today. LOL talking about fruits right hahah

2/12 til Hawaii - Monday to Thursday

Image
Hurro, Jury Duty 2nd day at court, brought charger and listened to podcasts and snacked during recesses This week has been both fast and slow. I had jury duty for the first time and got selected to be a juror. I came with no expectations and left with respect, empathy, and insight. I've noticed how some people are so selfish and indifferent (those that were dismissed from jury selection), but also others who are moral and hold our laws to a high principle. As Americans, we really need to be grateful that we have the right to a trial and that 12 strangers spend X amount of hours and days to listen without bias and to be vigilant in upholding the laws. On the Go Diet In other news though.. wow so many breaks and recesses and long lunch hours. From Monday to Wednesday I was at the courthouse from 9am to 330 pm. And I did not plan nor pack my meals/snacks accordingly. One day I KILLED a Chipotle burrito bowl in one sitting cause I was famished and also had to rush to work ri...

1/12 til Hawaii - Friday

Image
Week 1 Friday BRB, Nikki Blackketter is my fitspiration. haha and yes I watch her workout movies to motivate me and also to make me get pumped up for my own workout. Drank black coffee out of a hello kitty cup (like a boss) and went to the gym to do a fasted Back workout: wide arm lat pulldowns close grip pulldowns cable rows, rope face pulls bar pushdowns/triceps single lat pulldowns unilateral rows 5 mins of cycling However, afterwards I met with my friend and had a huge cup of taro slushy + egg pudding + boba. I'm fat .. I figured.... I can still treat myself to my cravings for a little bit, but I really need to hone it down furreal for the next 11 weeks HEH. I promise after this weekend? o:) why after this weekend? Because my manfriend is visiting mee <3

1/12 til Hawaii - Wednesday

Image
Week 1 Wednesday haha I had a sinful coffee shake from Mcdonalds in the morning, but my body decided to be a bit lactose intolerant. lol! so morning gym was delayed for a little bit -_- I was finally able to go to the gym and did 12 minutes of sprinting HIIT  on the treadmill then 8 mins of cycling & cool down. Throughout the day, I ate relatively clean and low carb,  until I came back from work and saw a bag of kettle chips in the kitchen....my gawd, my weakness. cheeeps haha 86 days I am editing this Thursday morning and I am incredibly sore from the squats done Tuesday evening. And NOT as bloated this morning as I thought I'd be hehe (from the chip gorge 'party'). I also think I must've hurt my left knee from sprinting, because when I squat down and try to get up, it feels so fragile and unstable! ahhh I hope it's something that can be healed naturally by my awesome body. Going to foam roll the shit out of my legs and try to increase blood flow. F...

1/12 til Hawaii - Tuesday

Image
Week 1 - Tuesday Nothing really extraordinary this day. well except that I totally killed it at the gym. Again :) In the morning, I originally wanted to go do HIIT sprints on the treadmill. but I just did not have the willpower so I ended up doing Kayla Itsines BBG - Arms & Abs . oh gawd my two most un-favorite body parts to workout *cry face* hahaha this picture made me laugh today I had a busy day at work and also someone sprayed the room with too much air freshener so my head was hurting. I was just too temperamental to want to deal with waiting for machines and racks so I headed straight home afterwards, and happily conversed with family during dinner. LOL this reminds me of Sims when their mood levels get higher when they interact with their friends and family. By 10 pm I was ready to force myself to go gym (even without caffeine!) and did box jumps intervals worked out lats while waiting for squat rack SQUAT . did 3 sets of 3 with 135lbs :D YEA. trying to get ...

1/12 til Hawaii - Monday

Week 1 - Monday I've noticed that most of my titles on this blog are some sort of a countdown. hahha it seems like I live my life in countdowns, can't really blame an NYE baby for that ;D! This time I'm giving myself 12 weeks, so they will be in fraction form. Since it's week 1 right now, it's 1/12! I earnestly did each workout of the Monday Legs and Cardio . For each circuit of 7 minutes, I was able to do it 2x.. too fast too serious.  Working out in the morning allows me to be more proactive and productive throughout the day. I already know about myself that I get quite exhausted, drained by the end of day. Also, I have this personal rule to not intake any caffeine after 12pm. So I'm trying to make my cardio, which is also fasted, in the morning since motivation for cardio is the hardest for me to bring about. Monday evening, I got off work a little earlier than usual. Originally planned to squat but I forgot my workout pants. I figured it would be qui...

Summer body: Week 5 - YOGA

Image
This week is definitely one of progress, or one that is more noticeable to me. It's very motivating! SO if you feel uninspired or sad that all your hard work isn't showing, just push through and continue on - working out consistently and being one step closer each time is better than quitting & regressing back to old habits. I truly think 3.5-4 weeks is the magic number . Tumblr agrees too (I used to think this was so cliche, but all cliches have a truth right) I actually didn't know about the 12 weeks part, but now that I think about, that's probably why Tony Horton's P90x is 90 days and Kayla Itsine's Bikini Body Guide is 12 weeks. It makes sense! Progress : Getting stronger by lifting is tying in extremely well with yoga practice! Forearm handstand and crow pose is coming through :) (Ludacris - Good Lovin) This is the first time I lifted my legs up against the wall. It has been one of my yoga insecurities and fear, but I was finally able to g...

Summer body: Week 4 - concluding it

Image
Bloop Bloop Thurs Went to the gym to swim some laps, and generally just work on my tan while having fun. It's been years since I've swam laps in the pool. Love how our bodies have muscle memory. Since it was my last day with LA fitness, I wanted to make the most of the membership. hahah luckily Thursdays are when there's an awesome cycling instructor. His music choice is on fleek, on point (jk ugh those phrases are so cringeworthy). I was late to class, but I actually frickin stayed for the rest of 50 minutes. Felt like such a champ (especially since I was still sore from squats). Fri rest day.. But I went to Souplantation and ate for my muscles?? :) heh. Also got an awesome vanilla froyo with the works - peanuts, crumbled oreos, granola, chocolate syrup, caramel. YUM x 3. Bouquet of Dogs? I absolutely want. Sat .. laziness prevailed Just... don't. go. on. Netflix. until you're done with everything on your to-do list. Because then you could end u...

Summer body: Week 4 - Tuesday & Wednesday

Image
Tuesday Drank a fruity, carby smoothie for energy and went to gym to do volume squat training & squat jumps in between sets. Manfriend said doing cardio in between sets is helpful for burning fat. Ok fine you convinced me. Fanny pack was a great idea Wednesday The day was glorious and not too hot. For fasted cardio I tried to jog around my block; I looked up the distance and realized if I jogged up and down 5x = 1 mile. Buttt, I absolutely am not a fan of cardio so after doing that twice decided to instead just fast walk around the neighborhood. haha I found a lavender bush along the way! :)) going to make a natural bug/spider repellent with the sprigs I collect >:) PM workout: did back & bicep lifting sesh then 10 mins of cycling

Summer body: Week 4 - Sunday & Monday

Image
Sundays are meant for crop tops and pjs with a cup of coffee! Sunday Was pretty sore from all the working out from week 3. But decided I should go work out, especially since it was about time to wash my hair o:) -Kayla Itsines BBG week 1 legs workout -5 min cycling -sauna Monday Mondays are hard. Lately, I've been making my Mondays my rest day because, Mondays are hard . Also, it seems to be the most crowded day of the week at the gym. I've stayed away from fruits and smoothies for a while because of the carbs/sugar - a no-no for keto and low carb diets. I also read that essentially you are consuming more calories than you normally would, you gulf down the fruits in excess. To go about this, you can add more liquids, chia seeds, and veggies. That should be a quick fix. I've forgotten how much I adore smoothies! Lately, I've been drinking a smoothie a day - I think they have the power to make you happy :) Ingredients for pictured smoothie : coconut mea...

Wait, what week is it? - What I learned Week 2

Image
I thought I was gone from my blog a bit longer, but it has only been a week. *phew* I can't say I see progress on my abdominal area, however, I believe I can see that squats & deadlifts are effective. My goal is to squat 2x/week because "there's no such thing as overtraining" - CT Fletcher Last week I was able to have an awesome deadlift sesh and 2 separate squat seshes. I also think my recovery time is getting faster OR my body is getting used to my high volume. I read that intaking more protein can help your body at the cellular level to recuperate faster (I looked up D.O.M.S and how to treat it cause it hurts!). And sleeping helps too. Zzzz I'm supposing that there's no evident progress on the stomach area because I snack here and there too much -  I'm always fricking hungry and I really do eat a lot throughout the day. I've decided that I need to be better with my eating habits even if I eat relatively healthy and low carb oftentimes: ...

Summer body: Week 1 - Friday & Saturday

Image
On Friday, I was just way sore from doing deadlifts on one day and squats the day after. I think I get D.O.M.S (delayed muscle onset soreness) a little later so surprisingly doing my workouts on this split was totally perfect. I know muscle soreness means that "I'm making gainz" but it's not pleasant when walking around; I feel that I walk around stiffly like a robot. SO, I searched up on how to treat D.O.M.S. or make it go away more quickly. Intake more protein - helps with muscle synthesis and accelerates the healing of muscle fibers Foam rolling afterwards - promotes blood flow especially to the area of injury/muscle tears/inflammation I think these two "treatments" may have sped up my recovery! So I'm ready to start week 2 STRONG :). Originally, I planned to workout Saturday morning since I allowed myself a rest day on Friday, however, I think my body needed the rest... slept 12 hours on and off. How you do dat?  :O This is the brand...

Summer body: Week 1 - Wednesday

Image
Anyone watch The Bachelor ? haha whenever I skip washing my hair, I think I'm pulling a Britt. LOL but... I'm gonna go the gym again tomorrow morning. what's the point of washing my hair at night? o:) I think I look relatively clean. Just put your hair up or whatevs, cover it up with a hat :P AM workout : quick fasted cardio sesh Lunch: pho Snack: 1/2 a Banh mi Dinner: rotisserie chicken, shrimp, pork "hash browns" + salad PM workout : Deadlift sesh + 12 min cycling I'm still trying to figure out my workout schedule. Wondering if I should keep my fasted morning cardio or change it to fed lifting sessions instead. Hmm hmm

Week 8 - Wednesday

Image
Tuesday's food journal So, my newest obsession may be   microwaved cheese crackers  :D They're made so magically and easily! I just get shredded cheese and put a thin layer onto a microwave-safe plate. Then heat it up in the microwave for about 60 seconds. It's ok when the cheese is bubbling. I let it cool down for a little so it'll be slightly crunchy when I nom into it :) Oh, today I woke up quite late and didn't workout.. BUT I was finally able to get the 2 year 24 hr fitness gym membership  from Costco. I SO missed going to the gym and squatting and lifting and getting butt gains. Also, haha today is the start of the 3rd day of not washing hair. Incredible! I am someone who absolutely loves to shower and gets grumpy when I feel oily and icky. I also workout pretty much everyday. Sometimes even twice a day. Therefore, I used to shower daily. However, during the colder periods of this winter, I noticed my hair and skin were probably being overly washed ...

Week 8 - Monday

Image
I'm going to try to input my calories and macros through myfitnesspal and just put up my food journal on here. LOL don't judge my random meals. And also even though my calories may not be "a lot," I eat intuitively and eat when I'm hungry. Also, yesterday's Monday, I woke up a bit late - a little before lunch time. That is why I only had 2 meals. Workout:  Fasted Kayla Itsines Week 10 Monday - Legs Mondaze are hard; have to get back to the weekly grind! Let's make the last week of February great! + saved my carbs for an evening beer o:)
