Where did the past week go? a MONTH late post...
Warning. this is more like a diary entry. And it's not even entertaining at all or smart. But purely just my own documentation :)
-----------------------------------------------
I can't believe I was in norcal 2/15 to 2/21.
When you're having fun, time just goes by so quickly, yet also stops infinitesimally
This is more like a personal accountability of how I spent my days because they are getting intermingled in my mind along with dreams making me confused.
Friday 2/15
Hotwire/delta/LAX
Apparently there's a strict 30 minute check in. I seriously got to the kiosk 29 mins before boarding time -__- and I was blocked. But fortunately, the nice woman 1 let me run to my original flight while giving me a guaranteed ticket to a later flight (15 mins to wait in line and go through airport security then running to the gate for my plane). Nice woman 2 with red hair and high heeled boots understood my plight and eventually let me get the absolutely last seat on that full plane. But it was a really spacious seat since it was next to the emergency exit.
While I was safely on board for about an hour, unfortunately my brother and Ph stuck in traffic on both sides of CA. ooopsies.
Waited at SFO airport for a good 2 hours and having trouble guiding Ph to where I was located. Finally found the girl in a bright pink shirt. Got lost and sidetracked in traffic and found our way into a random dive bar "the Ave". Friendly owner, with really nice cleavage, made conversation with us and wondered how we found her bar... since it kind of reeked of stale/dried alcohol + pee? + musty, wet smell. But she was appreciative of our company. We were totally sticking out in that crowd like a sore, red, throbbing thumb. Had pretty strong IPAs on empty stomachs and also had a free shot of tuaca. Then we walked on over to Jojo's Cafe (chinese). I believe I got black bean sauce fish, Ph got mushroom/chicken on rice. Already getting on that chubby train >< uh noz
Then headed to his house but on the way stopped by the Pyramid Brewery. Don't quite remember what beer I got but the person serving us wasn't very attentive or friendly. Place reminded me of a slight hint of hipster-ness to a BJ's brewery.
Sat 2/16
Woke up to a beautiful sunny day in the bay. Headed to Skates on the Bay (Berkeley) for brunch. Had to wait quite a while since older people like to come here with their dates and eat next to the windows with the great marina view. Sooo we sit at the bar and drink some more beers. Unfortunately I didn't keep tab of the beers I tried/drank. Finally got seated and ordered Benedict Florentine and Seafood Joe and also added in bloody mary and more beers..
We assumed the bloody mary bar was like a salad bar at the buffet. Unlimited version of alcohol! But alas no, we had to ask the server for refills of alcohol but the herbs, spices, sauces and pickled vegetables were indeed unlimited. In my opinion, it was definitely not worth $10 for just a shot of vodka in a glass filled up with tomato juice (salty!).
Too bad it got windy and cold quickly so we didn't walk along the marina and admire the view. Instead we tried to digest a bit and then headed to the Richmond 24 hour fitness. Apparently there are some fine bootays at the gym and really buff meatheads as well. "Sorry to disappoint you and have your hopes up high." Guess on a Saturday afternoon not many of the attractive people go to the gym. We majorly worked out our chest and abs and monkeyed around the trx suspsensions. See, we don't just drink and eat. We also work out too :)
The rest of the crew came to the bay to come see meee. Jk they were missing one piece of the puzzle that weekend and it was Ph and I was hogging him for that weekend. Drive over to Bobby G's in Berkeley for pizza and beers; my two favorite words together. Ph told me the saddest news ever: he was starting to dislike pizza because most places use too much cheese and it's a hassle to constantly ask for less cheese and then have the order messed up in the end. Isn't that the saddest news?? How can you live without pizza!
ok funny fact to counteract that sad new: Ph asks for quesadillas with no cheese. HAHA that's like a flatbread, bruschetta then. Anyways, we all were feeling that really strong draft IPA selection.
Then cruised over to SF because the boys felt like clubbing. Was way too full from the pizza and beers and would've actually just enjoyed site seeing or more like go take a fat food coma slumber. Turns out we go to a club and just kind of danced and jiggled the night away (at an 18+ club -____-) while buying shots for each other. It was entertaining seeing my wallflower boys be beautiful decor and the others showing off their dance moves to unsuspecting girls. I think the boys missed me so much that they kept buying me shots. And how can you reject that if they say it's cause they've missed you and bought it just for you <3. Man, thank goodness I didn't wear heels and instead wore wedges because as most people know, SF streets are very hilly. As a group, we are not very good with our sense of direction. We made huge circles and walked into liquor stores to grab more alcohol to fuel us. No not me, I'm not trying to get a hangover, and the walk was already hazy for me. Though I do have a striking memory from that night of Ph jumping over a dark shadow on the floor then somebody yelling "why don't you jump over somebody else." Omg, we were all so shocked and skeedaddled away. Yes, he unknowingly jumped over a sleeping homeless man like a total douchebag. Ahh drunk adventures with my friends who will never grow up.
We came in two cars, and the car that Ph and I originally rode in left us stranded without telling us. I was heartbroken I would have to sleep in the Evo like a total ratchet with 4 other boys in a garage parking lot. Guys are crazy; they were actually excited to have a slumber party or something -__-. Fortunately for my sanity our night did not end like that. Instead we all drove back and actually stopped by Mcds for hashbrowns and mcdoubles. And that's when mystery of the lost hashbrowns... dun dun dun
Ph told me he counted them when he first got them from the window and the order was right. Br totally secretly, drunkenly gobbled down Ke's extra orders of hashbrowns, and Ke ended up getting none. LOL
Sun 2/17
Sleepover party: hahaha the guys are so fraternal. How do three guys fit on a queen bed? They cuddleee
Ph wanted pho, but the rest of us wanted tamales! Off to Las Montanas supermarket. Latinas have really nice bodies. We basically gawked while waiting for our food. I'm so jealous.
With our 24 pack of heinekens we set out to Sala thai, Ph's favorite thai restaurant in the vicinity for some pho -__-. That pho-fiend. I'm quite certain the server there has a huge crush on him. The guys were being jerks asking: so how drunk/many beers would you have to get to do her? jerks aiyy
*chug more beers* travel back to Berkeley because Ch & her babe are back. Don't find them but instead find Jupiter, what a gem! I know I complain that I have more guy friends than girl friends, but I really do enjoy cruising with guys and just chilling. Although, they only really like enjoying beers and walking around and checking out ladies and eating often. The best is when guys are pretty awkward but they make fun of their own awkwardness. Honey badger doesn't give a fuck! I wonder what they think of me hanging out with them? Oh yea, once again we drink more pitchers of IPA. I've been trying to keep up with the guys all day. Wow, mission accomplished, but hmm, let's just say good thing another sip was taken.
Mon 2/18
The original plan was to head back home, but the weekend went by absolutely too quickly. Decided to postpone departure and instead listened to pitter patter of the rain while cozied up under blankets and watching workaholics or Borat (oh gawd, my first time watching that movie. ridiculous..).
Went to an Asian plaza and walked around in circles looking for what enticed us the most. Chose a pho restaurant, but was greatly disappointed with the taste. Walked on over to Daimo and got black bean clams and wonton soup. There was a baby crab in my clam! Basically, Ph ate the whole thing. hahaha and he never gets fat. Ugh genetics and fast metabolism. I'm jealous x2.
Then we met up with his boss and I tag along to a very long conference. And we head back to his house, but not before we return to Daimo to order fried rice and singapore stir fried noodles. OH GLUTTONY
Tues 2/19
Wake up super late or was it, we kept going back to sleep... But eventually got out of the taco bed and to make up for our laziness went to the gym. Yea, woke up so late that after working out and freshening up it was just in time for happy hour at Skates on the Bay. Dude, best happy hour ever here. The mussels were so delicious. And that's all I really remember of it. :/ I wish I took pictures of the food, but Ph thinks it's embarrassing when I whip out my phone and take pictures like the true asian/Yelper I am. I was also starving, so that may be another reason why I didn't bother.
At least I got a blurry take of the view at night..
Wed 2/20
Now, the latter days - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - were fusing into one huge day in my memory. But basically, we were either eating, watching tv, or sleeping. So we probably woke up super late on Wednesday again. I am actually a bit disappointed we didn't go around SF more and do outdoor activities. But when you get in the habit of lazing around, you kind of don't want to start being proactive. It's a vicious, comfortable cycle ^_^ and I am guilty of enjoying it. Just sad I had so little time which I would've preferred to do other things, yet not at all regretting the time spent doing what I did anyways :)
For dinner went to Blue Bay Thai because I saw they have coconut milk and serve it in coconuts. hmmm, sadly that was not the case for me that day :(. But the food was good and decently portioned imo, although for Ph it did not curb his appetite fully. Strangely, there is a casino in the area, and we drift on over because he has never checked it out and hey what else is there to do anyways haha. Played blackjack for a bit, and I kind of start to understand the rules, but I'm afraid noticing how quickly the money disappears and for some reason in California you have to tip the dealer each time (uhh that kind of sucks). But we sat next to a gangster looking asian guy who was actually friendly and you know how sometimes you vibe along really well with someone else at your table and win together - yep that happened, for a fleeting moment.
After a relaxing beer, we decide to go back since my flight is early in the morning the next day. But on the drive back somebody *ahem* gets a craving for a chilidog. -__-
Thurs
I had a dream I missed my flight and woke up early in a panic. If I could, I would've stayed in the bay for much longer. But I immediately had to go back since my friends and I planned on a Disneyland outing that day. Too much play. I desperately needed a rest day because I am an introvert and I recharge with my alone me-time. Groggily and bittersweetly say bye to Ph at SFO and fly to John Wayne where cheerful Je picks me up.
-Stop by costco for gas
-interestingly lots of people at disneyland
-Je forgets her id in car and can't get annual pass without it
-my phone completely dies and I have images in my head of me being lost and stranded with no memorized numbers to call
-run to car
-run back to line
-An and We hungry and gets lunch without us
-it's ok we go to corndog cart
-search for minnie ears to wear throughout the day
-run around with je to go to another store with more selection
-run back to the others before they notice us missing
-finally go on rides
-finally had Dole Whip that I've been craving for years
-free churro for An and Je
-Mexican food at Ca Adventures
-Ipas for World of Color
-ended the day with an awesome bang at Russel's Wilderness Explorer Camp where we embraced our true inner child by jumping around nets, activating buttons with our butts, hooting and howling down slides, and climbing up rocks. I don't think the workers are used to 20-something year old girls just howling around and running everywhere like belligerent toddlers. It was like reliving our playground days.
Then I take Je home along with me and collapse from a week of adventures =)
ALL IN ALL. I felt the effects (felt it for two weeks no lie) of eating constantly and drinking like a fish. But that was an awesomely packed week-long getaway from reality.
xoxo to everyone that I got to see that week, especially to Ph <3
