Yesterday I learned that ginger is a diuretic

I'm sure everyone knows ginger is good for you, but don't know exactly how it's good for your body. Personally I didn't know either but I just saw some ginger hanging out in our fridge and decided to make honey + lemon + ginger tea.

And I've been peeing all day. At the beginning of the day I thought it might be the coffee making me use the bathroom so much, however finally by the latter part of the day I realized the culprit may be ginger.
It is. Ginger is a diuretic.
I've also learned some more key reasons to continue to use ginger and I'm loving all of them!
  • Fights cancer, specifically ovarian cancer. And the American Cancer Society promotes ginger as a cancer treatment 'to keep tumors from developing.'
  • Helps with irritable bowel syndrome - calming effect on our digestive system. I definitely need these for presentation days..
  • Slows down loss of brains cells (typically seen leading to Alzheimer's)
  • Relieves/recovers muscles (useful for strength training)
  • Manages glucose levels which have direct impact on energy level throughout the day.
  • Helps stay focused and on task
  • Improves circulation (this is actually the reason why my mom said I should make ginger tea)
  • And the best!: Ginger acts as fat burner. Makes sure weight lost is not just water loss
    • ginger promotes the production of bile - aids digestion of lipids/fat in small intestine
    • bile helps digest and removes excess cholesterol and toxin from the body
    • liver produces bile from cholesterol and bilirubin. Promoting production and flow of bile keeps cholesterol levels down
Actually the ones I have listed above are just a handful of benefits I've read about. So there are more advantages of ginger, but these are the ones that are most relevant to me currently.

this is the link that summarized the best for the potential of ginger
